You are right. But his appearance was just as well deserved as LSU's in 2003, 2007 and 2011. He should get credit.

Don’t remember them beating Georgia and Penn St to get in. Also what happened every time he played in the big one? He proved he didn’t belong

Franklin has done a great job at ND. His team is disciplined and physical, and probably can beat Texas. Lower chance against tOSU, but who really knows. That’s why they play the games.
