BK still doesn't realize he left time on clock

I know this topic has been beaten to a pulp, but LSU reporters keep letting him off the hook. At his presser, they asked him why didn't he kneel it on 3rd down, instead of stating a more straight forward question.

Why not simply ask him, given that you kicked the field goal, why did you choose to leave time on the clock?

I still don't think he realizes that he could have left no time on the clock.

One problem I had was the kick was on an angle.

I think it’s worse than you realize.

Kelly doesn’t realize it because he was trying to score in first and 2nd down.

He didn’t realize that he could have run the clock down to zero on first down. And he didn’t realize it on 2nd down either.

that is the lazy, stupid, Les Miles way of thinking.

Sure it worked, this time. You don't just ignore the blatant errors you made just b/c the other team didn't capitalize on them.

I think they were considering going for the TD and decided better of it.

I am sure they knew where Ramos felt most comfortable to kick from.

Have to agree on this one. Why even give them the chance. Kneel and call TO with 2 seconds left. Kinda reminds me of the running play call in the movie All The Right Moves. Even Tom Cruise knew you didn't have to run the ball.

i guess but that was a pretty sharp angle. I kinda doubt that from that close in he prefers that over straight on, but i could be wrong.

Enough with people bringing solutions in search of a nonexistent problem. It worked. LSU won. Move on.

Ramos said on postgame radio that he didn't have a preference.

I think so too. I think he was trying to score on first and second down before someone came over and told him that we can run the clock down and kick a FG. I think he panicked because he wasn't sure what he wanted to do yet so he called the TO.

He's been doing this a long time. He knew there was time. I think what was actually going on, which he can't say, was he was hesitant about letting the game be decided by the special teams when he was in position to score a TD. This place would have been apoplectic if LSU had the ball at the 7 yard line with over a minute to go and Kelly decided to play for FG...that was blocked...ultimately resulting in Arkansas winning in OT.

When you lose a game on a blocked Xtra point and have a special teams group that really hasn't been significantly better than last year, you might struggle with deciding to put it on their shoulders rather than taking 6 with your offense. I think he decided literally mid-series that he was going to try a FG to win the game rather than just punching it in. If not, he wouldn't have run the ball on second down. Of course, that resulted in some poor clock management.

Now, Kelly decided he wasn't going to hire a dedicated special teams coach and much of the personnel from last year's group is the same as this year. So if he's not confident in his special teams that is on HIM.

Yeah, the middle of the field from 2 yards out. They choose to kick from the middle after every touchdown.

He had 4 seconds left for them to run a play from their own 30. Some of you people are just scarred still from the Les Miles clock managements. BK did everything as he needed to win that game.

He did deny ever saying “we’re gonna beat the hell out of FSU”
In his mind, the game was over once we kicked the FG so who cares
