Either way I'm glad they finally got their head outta their arse and figured something out.

Just like they should have figured out Nuss was a better option than Daniels, right?

He probably had a challenge to figure out how you use all 3 in nickel and dime personnel. I assume he will have BJ with a hand in the dirt and only 2 other D linemen in the dime.

He said they’d all be on the field in BASE coverage, not necessarily nickel and dime.

Thought they were already on the field at the same time in base? The problem was having to pull one of them off the field in nickel.

Isn’t nickel the new base?

One wonders why this is even a question.

No not at all. I've never called for Nuss as far as I can remember. I did start a post saying that Daniels had a 'Can't make an interception problem' which I think has been vindicated. Since then he's been much better.

This post is about Harold Perkins and the coaches finally realizing he needs to be on the field. I'm glad they figured it out.

Yup - knew he’d realize this soon enough. He’s not at Norte dame anywhere when you have to laser focus on scheme. With lsu…you just have to let athletes on the field and find a spot for them. The special ones just need to be in the game and they’ll make a play.

Who's willing to bet not only that this game was circled preseason but this was the plan from the get-go?

That really is an amazing clip. Dart is a great runner but he had no chance.

It's like watching a QB being chased down by a Belgian Malinois or a big cat.

Perkins is just too big, strong, and fast to elude.

This is where having the bye week helps. We have time to tinker and add wrinkles where you don't have the ability to do that during a game week - its too risky.

I think this will be a very high level game. Both teams will be rested and prepared.

My comment may not apply to you specifically, then, but I suspect that many who think they know better than the coaches about who should be playing on defense also thought they knew better about QB.

You don’t think the coaches recognize the talent Perkins has? They have been working overtime looking for a role that he is ready to fill. The fact that he played so well against Ole Miss isn’t proof he was ready to do so against FSU. Likewise, the fact that he was able to play so well primarily in Ojulari’s typical role is not proof he was/is ready to play on the inside and be a run stopper in addition to getting after the QB. I think there’s a strong argument that Perkins should play ahead of Ojulari now and that’s what happened last game. I think that’s all we as fans can conclude.

My guess is Alabama is likely to target Perkins and try to exploit him in some way. We all know Bamas staff, just like all of us, just like Kiffin are going to look at film and see Perkins is a distuptor.

You are giving BOB a lot of credit. I’m not sure he deserves it. He doesn’t suck, but he’s not on the same planet as Kiffin or Sark. Locksley was also far more creative. He is absolutely holding their offense back and Young’s talent is the reason they are as good as they are.

They may still pick on Perkins some, but BOB is not the master of manufacturing matchups that Bama’s recent predecessors at OCs were.
