Probably don't know all the blocking assignments and pass protection like Williams does.
.

Fun fact. Josh Williams is our LOWEST graded pass blocking RB by far. PFF has his pass blocking at 27.3. He may know the assignments but he's done a shite job at executing

I'm glad he's not reactionary like the fans are. Durham could end up being the guy, but how many 1 game wonders have we seen come and go? Let's see it over a few more games.

Let me paraphrase what someone said in this thread "If it's as simple as that, anyone could coach the team"

quote:

If you just want analytics, anyone could coach the team. A guy making 10m a year needs to have some instincts.

Maybe you need to know when to use analytics, your assessment of their knowledge of the blocking schemes and assignments, your instincts, or some combination of them all.

Johnson wasn’t even trying to play RB 3 weeks ago. he likely only has certain packages at the moment. i doubt he can play a full drive

That’s a fair point but also begs the question:

Why did Johnson who was not even trying to play RB get time there vs Nicholls ahead of Durham who had been at RB since he got on campus.

This isn’t a knock on either player. More curiosity as to our RB rotation. It often does not make sense.

He said in his presser, we are not at the point where he is the guy. Did compliment his vision. But damn dude. What are you waiting on?

This is probably just some smoke going into the next two OOC games. He’s going to get a lot of carries because he produces and he may emerge as the “official” guy after the bye week.

Considering that the staff trusted Durham in an SEC road game and Johnson played few to no snaps Saturday, I’m going to say it was the opponent. They knew they could ease him into some snaps because it was an FCS team.

The rotation is still janky at times, though.

Could make a similar statement regarding Ju’juan Johnson

He came in and looked good vs Nicholls but don’t see the field after his TD and DNP bs SC

Johnson came in the SC game, was a screen play, he ran the wrong direction, and Nuss almost threw a pick as a result, didnt see the field much after that.

Johnson literally just got moved to RB 2 weeks ago. It's going to take him some time before being anything but a rare gadget player at RB.

they might have wanted to get him some kind of touch in that game and kicked that 1 play in that moment.

“Coaches need to rely on pure talent when it’s there and stop over analyzing things.”

Without Durham we have no chance of winning that game. We’ve had no running backs who were even close to all sec talent. He is. Does BK want to win or is his “ football theory” more important?

“making stupid mistakes and blowing assignments.”

So Durham single-handedly establishes a running game with all sec moves and averages over 4 yards per carry AFTER CONTACT and he is enough of a liability to have to sit on the bench?

Jesus y’all need to go watch the press conference. He just said he thinks it will take multiple guys to get the job done but Caden had a great game and had great vision. We can’t expect Caden to go out there and get 30 carries. That would be dumb.

BK also didn’t put perk on the field as a freshman and tried to make him a mike repeatedly.

maybe some sort of consistency?
he averaged less than a yard per carry against Nicholls (4 yards on 5 carries).

That's because of the WIll Campbell Bros. They didn't block anyone that game.

Kaleb has no vision and doesn’t let blocks set up. He just goes head first and doesn’t break tackles at the LOS. Maybe he needs to mature some. He has the physical attributes which you can’t teach.

This is untrue. Perk played a lot as a freshman and they’ve never tried to make him a Mike.
