re: BK ranked 5th in College Football Coaches Facing the Most Pressure in 2025

Here’s my thing with Brian Kelly. All I want, all I am asking for is to win the opening game. Not only win, but have the team prepared. Like they know what they’re doing on the field. Kelly’s signature has been having the team look completely fricking lost on opening day and until that is solved then we can talk playoff prospects

Downvoted your post not because of you supplying it but an obvious coach under more pressure than Kelly. How about Lincoln Riley at USC? The top 4 are fine but no way is Kelly #5 and ahead of Riley. In fact, Riley should probably be at least #3 on the list. Gundy should be #1 since OSU wanted him to take a pay cut and that was publicly advertised. That automatically puts him at #1 for a guy under contract being "asked" to take a pay cut obviously because he wasn't doing the job.
BTW, in the SEC, Pittman at Arkansas and Napier at Florida are at least even with Kelly in pressure. Kelly is only on that list because of name recognition and expectations at LSU. Kelly is in the top 8 or so but no way is he in the top 5.

The obsession with the opening game is nonsense IMO. Is it frustrating that LSU hasn't won an opening game in several years...including 3 under Kelly? Uh yeah. But it wasn't like LSU wasn't playing bowl caliber teams...including one in FSU that deserved to make the 4 team CFP that season. And under the category of "fans are never satisfied" why isn't his 3-0 bowl record at LSU ever brought up. I guess fans would rather win the opening game of the regular season than a bowl game. Not me...it isn't even close. I like to start and end on a high note but much rather end on a high note and have a W for the off season than start with a W and end the campaign with an L.

You're paying top money for a coach who won every other game last season (regular season).
Not gonna cut it Brian. Do better. Prepare better. Have the team ready.

oh geez my bad sorry for hoping that our team starts out on the right foot heading into a season. You’re right I’m unreasonable /s
Seriously your sentence is so fricking retarded I’m not reading the rest of that bullshite you posted.

How far do you need to see the Tigers go in 25? I’d like to see at least final four.
It is probably the most cut and dried benchmark in LSU history. Miss the playoffs and the season is a complete and utter failure by any measure, Make the playoffs, even if 9-3 gets us in, and the season is a success.
Even getting in as a 12 seed and losing on the road by double digits in the first round would be a huge difference over missing entirely.

He's got to make the playoffs. It's the new expectation every year.

He's been on the hot seat since he lost to USC in the opener. Now he's got @Clemson. I say no more.

Lincoln Riley’s seat is definitely hotter than BK, but he may not feel as much “pressure” at USC
Lincoln Riley should be 1 or 2. He goes 8-4 this year he is done. USC fans are funny, you think they dont care then they care a lot.
Not sure if true, but when he was told the number he wanted for NIL was done he was also told his buyout was also in the bank.

Bk should be in the top 10. Lincoln Riley, freeze, and Napier should be right in front of him.

We need to make the CFP in 2025 or the buildup to 2026 is gonna be spicy.
A deal will be brokered with BK to take a nice payment and gtfo. It will be a voluntary "Retirement/Resignation" a la Orgeron.

Or here’s an idea, stop giving ridiculous buyouts
When Miles was let go and Ed Orgeron was let go, all we heard was we want a "Named coach". Well we got one in Kelly. Established coaches come at a price and a long term contract. Kelly does not leave with 48 million dollar 7 year deal. That kind of a deal gets you Billy Napier. And Kelly's record in the same conference is far better.
If you do not go for a "named coach" but instead go for an "up and commer" like Napier or Kalen DeBoer, you take a risk that it might nit turn out too well.
For those who do not understand let me explain:
[1]Texas went through Charlie Strong and Tom Herman before Sarkasian ( or rather NIL ) turned things around for them.
[2] Florida went through Muschamp, McElwain, Mullen and Napier post Meyer and have not found success.
[3] Tennessee after Fulmer went through Kiffin, Dooley, Jones, Pruitt before finding Hoepel.
[4] USC has gone through Kiffin, Sarkasian, Hilton and about to churn out Riley.
We have been incredibly lucky post Saban, Thanks to Miles holding up the program and winning 1 more natty and 2 SEC titles and playing for another Natty. Then we decided to nuke ourselves by hiring Ed O ( who had a record and calibre worse than all the men mentioned above ) and bombed into death penalty like situation. 38 scholarships is the DP. The Scott manages to pick up the ashes and get the second winningest active coach to take a chance here. It was he'll of a sales job.

9-4 is what Vegas is thinking. They say 8.5 wins. Our fans deserve better.

Strange linking Kelly in with those other 4.
Probably only due to the pathological condition of most Tiger fans.
Let me give you a name and you can then tell us about 'pathological":
Matt House.

This is not 1974. No one cares about a third tier bowl games with teams whose star players have opted out for the draft in recognition of how meaningless the game is.

OU gave a lifetime 16-10 coach a huge raise and extension last year with a 50m buyout.
