I do feel like these rumors we are hearing have some merit, but the opinion that Brien is not a good great coach is mind boggling. Bill inherited a Penn State program that had just received sanctions by the NCAA (bowl ban & limited scholarships by 40 over 4 years). If you go back in time Bill had Penn state rocking, so much so he was Big 10 COTY. (Both years in the college realm he garnered NFL interest)
Im not saying he is the answer @ LSU, but if he was chosen I wouldn't be angry. His troubles came from a terrible NFL organization & his balance of being both the head coach & GM. For all we know Bill may not even be on Woody's radar.
But if he is can we not Schiano him

Based on what? What collegiate evidence can you point to? At Penn State all I saw was his ability to coach up mediocre talent.

They went 8-4 and 7-5. He definitely exceeded expectations because everybody thought they'd crater like SMU and he did make Hackenberg look not terrible for one season, which is kind of miraculous. But their wins those seasons were pretty lackluster except at Wisconsin, his last game.

Whether it’s warranted or not, that’s another reason you can’t hire BOB
It’s just reality…this fan base would melt and riot 10x worse than the Schiano/Tenn situation if BOB was hired. It would be ugly. Like I said, maybe that kind of reaction is unwarranted, but the reality is the reality. It wouldn’t be pretty, and you can’t hire a new coach knowing he’s walking into that kind of environment and backlash.

Not a fan of hiring a coach that people have to make excuses or defend his record.
