Probably leaked by O’Brien or his agent. He constantly leaked information when he was with the Texans

I hope it is a situation where the #1 or #2 target is actually not being released.

Not sure who is driving this propaganda train but it needs to fricking stop. Dude went 8-4 and 7-5 in his only two years as a college head coach. He did a decent job with Penn State in a time of trouble but so did O as interim HC for USC and LSU.

It’s just reality…this fan base would melt and riot 10x worse than the Schiano/Tenn situation if BOB was hired. It would be ugly. Like I said, maybe that kind of reaction is unwarranted, but the reality is the reality. It wouldn’t be pretty, and you can’t hire a new coach knowing he’s walking into that kind of environment and backlash.

Which is hilarious since he'd be replacing a coach much worse than him.

Lane won more games with more talent at USC (literally after the Pete Carroll Prominence) Bill won with severely less talent @ at place that probably shouldn't have competed.

Look. I don’t want BOB.

But the fact that you don’t realize that this is actually amazing tells everyone just how stupid you are.

He did very well in an awful situation.

It would be the perfect smoke screen. Especially it just being the Alabama OC.

BOB just spend his NFL career showing how bad he is at talent evaluation and relating to his star players.

The exact traits I want In a HC

Exactly. It is funny to me, because people say he was only a bad gm. I mean isn't the HC of a college program like being a GM. Isn't it about evaluating players and talent?

I don't even care how he did in the NFL.. whether it was good or bad. That is actually irrelevant to me when it comes to what I like in a college HC.

At Penn State all I saw was his ability to coach up mediocre talent.

Well that is a huge step up from Ed coaching down elite talent.

Nobody really disliked him in Houston until he traded D Hopkins for nothing then everything began unraveling. He’s a disciplinarian type and that doesn’t work too well with NFL divas

I would NOT be enthused by a Bill O’Brien hire, but using the NFL thing as a reason he’d be bad is a bit confusing to me.

Houston won 4 division titles in his 6 years there, and had a winning record 5 of 6 seasons. Things ended badly for him when he took on the dual role of HC/GM. And the Hopkins trade was horrible - he deserves all the criticism he gets for that one. Regarding his overall talent evaluation skills I have little knowledge.

I know Nick Saban wasn’t very good at Miami and chose Daunte Culpepper over Drew Brees. And walked away after 2 years.

The concern I have with O’Brien is his extremely little experience as a college head coach and never having built a program. Hiring him would go against hiring the proven college head coach, which I think is high on SW’s list.

And the Schiano comp seems off also. UT fans fought his hire because of the allegations he was aware of the sexual abuse at PSU during his time there, not because they just didn’t like him as a football coach. If LSU fans did that you can bet a lot of the top guys would say to hell with going to LSU.

Lastly I don’t think I believe one damned thing Matt Moscona or any local media spout about what they’re hearing. They’ve been consistently wrong. They don’t have as high level sources as they may think, or these guys are steering them in the wrong direction to keep the real top targets out of the public realm.
