We always talk about the starting pitchers of yesteryear because they were the stars but yesterday I got to thinking about how good our bullpen was last year and who might be the best relief pitchers we have had play for LSU.

Just to name a few that popped in my head:

Chad Jones
Chris Cotton
Zach Hess (2017)
Reyzelman
Gervase
Matty Ott
Todd Peterson
Hunter Newman

Who comes to mind when yall think of great LSU relievers?

Gervase and Reyz have no business on this list IMO

I'll say that Reyz was shaky at times but Gervase was money all year long.

Matty Ott was pretty much unhittable his freshman year.

Zach Hess (2017)

He had the exact personality for a closer. Maniac off the bench who fed on intensity

Reyzelman Gervase

Not even close to being an all time great

Todd Peterson

Definitely the most famous after game presser with Maineri and hitting nukes

Matty ott

Cotton

Both had incredible seasons

can anyone mentioning names prior to like 2008 give a brief description/year of the pitcher?

I didn't really follow along until I was old enough and the SEC network started playing some of the games on TV.

Barry Manuel was in mid 80's ( I believe) and threw 95. Short Cajun that brought some serious heat.

Rick Greene threw 3/4s to almost sidearm and was one of our first great relievers that I remember. I think he was on the mound in 91 to close the 9th

I stand by Gervase being on this list. I can't think of a single bad outing he had this year.

yep, he was absolute money down the stretch in 1991.

This list has to include Rick Greene. Was just about automatic when he entered the game.

Not as a relievr in 2017. He was a madman fueled by emotion. It was trying to become a starter that brought forth his inconsistencies.

i get it, but i think to make this list you need more than 6.2 career innings
