Do they still have Brubacher's in BR? Had great onion rings in 80's.

Pastime. Has been a Baton Roug/LSU institution for over fifty years. And they don't have just great pizza, They have great sandwiches. Try the roast beef. Oyster po-boys are good too.

WALKON's is dead to me when they got rid of the chicken croissant sandwich. I asked for it and they said "oh, we have the same sandwich but its on soutdough, its basically the same thing."
The frick it is. I'm boycotting WALKON's bc of that alone.

If you were from out of town, and knew nothin about nothin in BR, I'm sure those would all be good places. Walk-On's has a great game atmosphere, even if their food and service are an afterthought. TJ's is the Dreamland of Baton Rouge. Chimes is easily my favorite of the three.
Though if I go to a bar for a game, I'm going to the Bulldog 90% of the time.

While those are three good choices I don't see any in my top three. Anyone's top 3 list will vary from time to time and occasion to occasion. My current top 3 are
1. Doe's Eat Place
2. Stroube's
3. Louisiana Lagniappe
FWIFW

2 and 3 are excellent options, but Doe's? The place sucks

If we're just talking near campus, I'd say Chimes, Pluckers, and Pastime

Has anyone had the burnt ends at TJ's? Has to be good right?

Chimes should easily be 1st with Sammy's 2nd IMO

Doe's? Melting Pot?
Those are chain/franchise places. The food might be OK, but definitely nothing unique to BR.
That said, the REAL Doe's (Greenville, MS) is second to none. Signa family been doing it right for YEARS.

Agree, and even though they are a chain, Zea's Thai spice ribs and corn grits are a must for me when I come back to visit.

Louie's for breakfast, Heads & Tails for lunch and Roast Beef Po-Boy with a Dogfish 90 at Chimes for dinner. The Dogfish 90 is what wins me over at the Chimes.

Is this the thread where people think they look cool by saying well established and extremely popular venues serve shitty food?
Posted on 7/30/13 at 9:02 am to TIGRLEE
That's dumb....that's Like going to Mc Donald's for a taco.....Tj ribs is known for....guess what....ribs.......the ribs are great...go there Everytime we go to baton rouge!
