Bengals wanted to sign Moss to join Burrow, he chose Redskins for one simple reason

It would've been nice to see Moss reunited with Joe. But I give him props for sticking to his guns and being loyal to signing with the first team that called him.

He's a hard worker with grit and will have a big chip on his shoulder with something to prove. I wouldn't bet against him. Will never forget his contributions to our championship run. Fingers crossed he can stay healthy and have a nice NFL career.
quote:

When the NFL draft had ended with his name still uncalled, Moss said his emotions "were all over the place," the whole thing "a slap in the face." So when his agent called shortly after with the names of three teams who wanted to sign him, all he cared about was who called first. Which is how the TE from LSU chose the Washington Redskins.

It didn't matter that one of the other two teams was New England, where his father once starred and a team that had built Super Bowl champion offenses around tight ends. Nor was he interested in the other team, Cincinnati, which had just drafted his college QB, Joe Burrow. Neither had phoned before the Redskins. Neither could have wanted him as much. "That's what I was going to go with and stick with."

"I put a lot of work in, years of football. We went undefeated and won a national championship, and I played my best ball in my biggest games, so I definitely felt it was a slap in the face not getting drafted and having kickers and punters and special teams guys getting picked over me."

Is it though? Knowing how the Bengals and Pats operate, they likely were interested in him but wanted him for cheap. The Redskins probably had more legitimate interest.

He'll probably have the best opportunity for PT with Washington as well.

That guy blocks his arse off, to say nothing of his receiving skills. If healthy, he will have a solid career in the league as an H back. I'm still shocked he didn't go in the 4th to 6th rounds.

Pumped to have him. If he can avoid the foot injuries I bet he’s the starter at TE for the Skins.

I mean the Redskins also passed on him 7 times or so not sure I would choose playing with Dwayne Haskins.

"4th or 6th rounds": his previous foot injuries were a concern & no team was able to bring him in for a physical. Losing his chance to perform at LSU's cancelled pro day hurt him a lot, too.

Pats drafted two TEs in the 3rd rd so they would've been a terrible choice. Redskins TEs from last year are both out of football.

I'd have to think he listened and considered to the other two teams. For those of you whining he didn't go to the Bengals, maybe he wanted to do his own thing, carve his own path. I'd bet he has a decent advisor.
