Will the BR hockey team play at the new arena since the river center will be a convention center or will the zydeco be a short lived experiment.

That team will be long gone by the time a new arena happens

8,500 would be the max for sporting events so they’d stay at the River Center

With 7 wins in 37 games, the owner better buy some better players or they'll be gone after year 3 lease is up.

That shite is unwatchable for any hockey purist.

So the capacity of the new arena will be over 15,000?

There is basically no chance the team still exists by the time this arena breaks ground, much less gets built.

The Zydeco will either leave or fold and BR gets hockey 3.0 before a new arena is built.

If they still exist then yes

Side note, a minor league baseball team would thrive in BR. An affiliate of the astros or braves.

I already forgot that team existed. The poster “Pledge” is probably the only person who goes to any games.

Look, I hope they survive but it’s a long shot. I don’t envy a small budget operation like the Zydeco having to compete directly for the sports entertainment dollar with LSU football in the fall and MBB, WBB and other LSU fall/spring sports.

The Zydeco?

It’ll never be ready in time.

For real.

Supposedly the living situation was so bad and exaggerated to the players. They were asking people for beds/air mattresses on Facebook. I feel bad for the players themselves and hope the organization folds completely. Insane let down by the group who made a half arse attempt at putting this together.

LSU already exists and the Rougarou play during the summer already.

And you would be lucky to see 200 people at one of their games. They had minor league baseball at the box in the early 80's. The only reason anyone went was because of the cheap beer.

They won 4-3 tonight. I don't know why ya'll are ragging on the Zydeco. It is easily the best non-LSU-football sporting event in Baton Rouge.

Dont be so sure that. If you look at their attendance numbers they are near the Top of their League. For that level of Hockey if you can draw 2500 a night you make a little $$ and survive.
