Anyone care to offer an assessment?

I am looking to be convinced on one or both.

I would imagine one or both will improve drastically over spring and summer with the reps they’ll get.
And a new defense being implemented.

So there’s no answer to this question

I've never understood the knock many seem to have on Baskerville. He played fairly well for a true freshman when he'd get in. The room was a little too stacked this year for him to find any PT, but I feel like he's a solid linebacker and that Pelini could take him to another level. I don't know much about Starks honestly. The freshmen coming in look like studs imo. Sampah is huge and White is fast as hell.

Baskerville is a beast. Remember his punt block and TD in the Vandy game?

I think Clark and Baskerville will be the ILB coming into the Spring. Starks arrived late and didn't play much, but I expect to see him competing for playing time. I really think Clark played better than Baskerville in the little bit of playing time I saw from them last year. I did not see much of Starks last year.

One is terribly over-rated.

They're all good or they wouldn't be Fightin' Tigers!

The one who came as a package deal is way over-rated, IMO. I don't want to disparage any young man giving the effort required to play college ball. Hopefully I'm dead wrong.

Starks needs to get his mind on football, that dude stay in some shite. I hope he can get away from his girlfriend & focus. Plus he’s trying to be a rapper now

I am excited for Starks, for some reason many people have forgotten about him. Baskerville should be solid as well

Starks could have a role similar to Clark this past season. I expect Damone, Jacoby and Micah to be starters at LB. Those three with our secondary and depth on the DL should make us pretty salty. We just have to find some guys to rush the passer.

Pelini will have a thumper at safety. Whether that’s Stevens (my best guess), or the emergence of Hampton could be pretty cool to see unfold in Summer.

Honestly I prefer keeping Hampton up top at FS. When he, Delpit, and Stevens were in, our pass coverage really took a step up. I look for Hampton/Harris/Monroe? At FS, with Jacoby becoming an All-American at SS

Baskerville has matured alot already. I expect continued improvement from him. He played his tail off against Florida as a freshman, and against A&M when Phillips got booted. He just wasn't quite ready yet. Although he didn't have any eye popping games this year, he showed up on tape several times around the ball. I think he'll be solid but not a game changer.

Starks is a wild card. He could be really, really good. Fast, and a thumper. Just not sure how he'll translate to college football yet. I could see him even playing a rover type role, tracking RBs sideline to sideline, spying big running QBs, etc. He may be a game changer, but the verdict is still out.

He just doesn’t seem to have that same quick twitch speed that the other recent great linebackers have. He would have been an awesome player 10-15 years ago

You don’t know how to evaluate athletes like you think you do.

What a stupid, ignorant comment.

Dude I’m a casual fan posting on a message board. Where did I claim to have any credibility professionally scouting athletes. I don’t see the same quick twitch acceleration and ability to change direction like say queen, white, Jones and other linebackers that have seen good success. He reminds me more of a Kendall beckwith build

Also did say anything about the prospect of him on the field as a tiger other then he looked slow in my comparisons. I simply stated he would be great 10-15 years ago...
