Milazzo tied for 4th in RBIs.

He’s doing enough to start plenty.

generally speaking, RBI overall is not a very useful way to measure offensive performance

Def need Crews and Dugas to cut those K numbers down.

Milazzo over .250 & able to move runners will be $$.

When it warms up, Berry & Crews will step up.

It’s telling us he’s putting the ball in play with less than 2 outs which is most of what his responsibility will be. He’s won’t be asked to be a spark. But when a runner is in scoring position, he will be asked to move him or find a way to score him. I think we are seeing that.

And leading in SAC. I want McManus to come in rake as much as anyone, but if Milazzo can be help set up our big guns to get RBI's and have a pulse at the plate otherwise, his defense is too good to keep off the field.

Disagree, the ability to plate runners on base is huge. It's why rbi's are tracked and appear in the box score.

My fall stats added to these Spring numbers for Milazzo:

10-81 (.123)

That's all fall practices, scrimmages w/UNO & ULL, and Purple and Gold World Series.

"putting the ball in play" simply cannot be the barometer for success for him or any player at LSU.

There isn't any data that proves that players hit well with runners on base independently of what their normal offensive production is.

Especially with this sample size. That isn't a stat you can draw much from other than he has likely hit a lot with RISP

I’m seeing improvement. I see it on the field. I see it in the stats. If you look at what we have to work with, it’s not what anyone wants. But all we asked of him to start is to improved. Start with making contact and having better ABs. He’s not stagnant and he hasn’t regressed. None of this is bad. And it’s enough for him to continue playing based on this roster. There’s no debate there.

He’s in the 8th/9th spot. He’s going to come up a lot with RISP. He just needs to come through in those spots. Seems to be doing it.

Has anyone else at the position proved to be better? What were McManus's fall stats?

I'm not saying that putting the ball in play should be the standard, but if Milazzo has similar stats to McManus, I'm going to start Milazzo 80% of the time.

These stats are for the 12 weekend scrimmages which were open to the public. There were others on week days that I wasn't allowed to see.

Pearson leading the team in walks is crazy to me. You would think the pitchers would challenge a freshmen vs. giving him so many free passes. Makes me wonder how many of his outs were in frustration from being walked so much.

You should put that in an excel sheet and paste a picture so the columns remain lined up.

McManus was the best hitter on the whole team in the fall.
