More negative surprises than positive ones...Crews, Berry, and McManus. On the good side..Safford and Cranford.

I was going to do it this morning but I noticed you missed a few games. Is that accurate Scoob

It’s harder than you think. I went to the scrimmage yesterday. The pitchers have some nasty stuff

-Drost 16ks in 26 AB is nuts. Really thought he would separate himself.
-Funny how different the fall and spring have been. The newcomers like McManus and younger players like Stevenson and Drost significantly cooled off.
-Though McManus' BB numbers are still impressive and lead me to believe he will probably be able to adjust to this level. In his favor, Milazzo still appears to be a non-threat at the plate
-Then some of the older veterans played well. Beloso and Gio have given Johnson something to think about. Bianco asserted himself as a steady guy that can play everyday if needed.
-Jobert + Merrifield seem to be ready for this level.
-Two young guys that have really stood out through both periods are Pearson and Safford. Johnson preaches approach. Both of these guys have consistently got on base more than they have struck out.

Did we ever confirm if some of the scrimmages were closed this year? Seems like Johnson indicated when he was hired that maybe not everything would be as open as the past, and I think LSU baseball data twitter posted some HR info at times during midweek.

All I heard was our pitching was terrible though this can’t be true.

Tre Morgan has 7 triples!!! Who do we have playing the outfield and are their legs broken??
Posted on 2/14/22 at 3:37 pm to BallsEleven
Too many Ks for Crews.
Drost… Yikes.
Holt is completely overmatched. He’s constantly late on FBs over 88.
Milazzo with only 3 Ks is encouraging. His ABs are so much better.
Beloso should have 3 HRs so I’m guessing we are missing data or it’s a typo.

Althought stats from 20-30 AB are pretty useless, here's the breakdown on some:
Top 5 AVG
1. Morgan .394
2. Safford .350
3. Cranford .333
4. Doughty .323
5. Thompson .316
Top 5 OBP
1. Beloso .650
2. Pearson .636
3. Safford .550
4. Dugas .538
5. Berry .519
Top 5 slugging
1. Morgan .606
2. Beloso .600
3. Safford .600
4. Doughty .548
5. Bianco .500
As of now, seems like Safford, Morgan, Doughty and Beloso are your hot guys at the plate. Safford the only guy to be Top 5 in all 3 categories.

Morgan had 7 triples in 33 ABs while the rest of the team combined had zero? Is that a typo?

quote:I believe Travinski hit one also so going back to the earlier post some of the games were probably closed.
Beloso should have 3 HRs so I’m guessing we are missing data or it’s a typo.
I assume the 7 for Morgan should be in the doubles column.

You can't hardly justify Drost sniffing the field with those numbers.
Posted on 2/14/22 at 4:07 pm to DRock88
His balls in play percentage is fricking 0.385. That’s atrocious.
Posted on 2/14/22 at 4:14 pm to Jax Teller
Friday lineup will probably be very similar, if not identical, to what we saw this past Friday. Whole weekend shuffling may be very similar.
