Adam it drives my OCD crazy that you don't go in order. Not going pitcher first doesn't crush my soul, but going 4-6-5 gets me every year.

There is only one clear choice here.

You're an injury away from inserting a true freshman at this spot as there really are no other options from upper classmen, that alone keeps this position grade from being higher than what I have it now.

I’m pretty sure Carraway has gotten some time at SS in the fall and spring scrimmages. If Milam gets hurt, I’d guess Carraway slides over to SS and either Dardar or Simpson fills in at 3B.

I came to say this too. Idk how great of a SS he is, but he should be decent enough to cover if Milam goes down to keep offense in the lineup

Yeah. It’s at least an option if one of the freshmen aren’t ready to take on being the every day SS.

Milam should be a minimum of 75 on fielding IMO. A .979 fielding percentage is insane for a SS in college and the best at LSU since Nola’s .980 in 2012.

I'm not as sold as others are on Carraway sliding to SS without some hiccups, but it certainly is an option.

I agree with this. He looked a little stiff on defense to me in the scrimmages. Definitely an option but one that we definitely don’t need to come to fruition.

Carraway did get quite a few reps at SS in the fall but I don't personally feel his defense is good enough to be an every day starter there.

Clauss was primarily the backup for SS in the fall but Ruckert has gotten more reps there than Clauss in the spring. I hope we don't have to go to either of these guys this year.

Don't discount Monster's base running not related to stealing base. I think he is excellent (off the ball) so to speak.

I agree that anyone other than Milam at SS isn’t ideal. But at least Carraway gives you more experience and offense in the lineup than one of the freshmen. Unless he’s just really bad defensively at SS.

This handful - those we seek to retain - will play. They must if they are going to stay happy and here

Easily
Not sure how a 70 can be justified for his fielding

Agree, He is better defensively than Adam is giving him credit for.

Wonder if he sticks at SS at the next level or they move him back to 2B?

They'll move him to 2B strictly because he's about 5'6, imo,.

I think he can play SS at the next level, but pro orgs (especially early in guys careers) tend to favor measurable and projections over raw ability.

I think he can stick at SS. He has no limitations really.

Who was the last sub 5'9 SS in MLB?

They really dont seem to give much very short guys a chance there. Maybe in MiLB for sure, but having trouble thinking of like a 5'7 SS which is where Milam really is probably.
