Curiel has been in the two hole a lot during the spring scrimmages. I remember the scout on youtube before the draft suggested Stanfield, Curiel hitting before Jones would be scary.

My gut is the top four in the lineup will be:
1- Stanfield
2- Curiel
3- Jones
4- Milam
I know Monster isn't your prototypical cleanup guy, but he just has that clutch gene and bat control that could come up big if teams try to pitch around Jones.
I'm not sold on Stanfield at the leadoff spot, but I think he gets first crack and we have several solid options to put there if he turns out not to be the guy.

Who do you see as next in line to start behind Kade, Eyanson, and Shores should one of them falter?

I honestly would have Dickinson leading off, but I have a feeling Jay goes with Stanfield at least to start the year. There’s so many interchangeable parts in this year’s lineup, it’s near impossible to predict. Guys like Brown, Dickinson, Hernandez, even Braswell could all make a case for the top third of the order. Jay will have some tough decisions but he knows a lot more about his team than I do.

I seriously doubt Jay knows more about the team then us TD experts

Jay should start reading the Rant. He could learn a lot about his team.

Dickinson has hit 5th in the order the past 2 weekends.

ware is a stud. whether it's as a weekend starter or the main guy like herring last year.

I think you move up Curiel between those RHH about 2/3 slots up...but this is close

Yeah, that lineup puts 3 righties in the 5-7 spots and 2 lefties back to back in the 8 and 9 spots.
Maybe just switch Braswell and Pearson in the 6 and 9 spots. Or Curiel 6 and Pearson 8.

Dylan Thompson is a redshirt freshman. The guy probably weighs 130 lbs and has a hard time hitting 90 MPh. That being said, he was effective in the fall and has been effective in the spring. He seems to produce a lot of weak contact.
Jay mentioned Benge, Mayers and Rizy recently in an interview as pitchers that have improved since the fall.
I noticed Rizy had an uptick in velocity since the fall and his offspeed was already good.
Mayers still seems to have control issues. The guy was third in the nation last year in hits allowed per 9 innings if I have that correct. He is really hard to hit but he is a box of chocolates, so in what situations do you trust him?
Guidry outpitched Anderson, Eyanson and Shores in the fall but hasn't been as dominant this spring. The control hasn't been as sharp.
Noot continues to steadily improve. Let's hope he can keep that going.
Benge has a big arm for his height. As Jay mentioned he continues to improve and is starting to emerge.
Primeaux has been steady and with him you know what you are getting. I believe Jay will put him in situations where he can be successful this year.
Schmidt struggled a little yesterday, so I believe he is still a work in progress. Luckily we can bring him along slowly. We all know what the ceiling is.
Evans is really exciting. He is a really good athlete and has a cannon.
Williams is an important lefty not only for this year but next year as well. The cupboard is a little empty of lefties in 2026 for the moment. He was a really nice late addition to the signing class.

I feel like Ware's performance in intrasquad play has been overshadowed by all of the freshman arms that many are focused on when evaluating newcomers. I expect him to have a big role on this team.

This comment would generate lots of bs attacking in a football or basketball thread. I love the baseball threads, especially the pre-season ones. They are mostly sports talk without all the nonsense. I appreciate the handful of very good posters in these threads every year. I am pumped for the season!

I really hope that we are patient with Schmidt. I know no one wants to hear this but guys that skinny with that big of an arm tend to be more susceptible to injury. He could probably use another 20 lbs and I want him in our rotation next season

No mention of Ware, Adam? I have him pegged for the Griffin Herring role although we seem to have a couple of guys to fill that role.

The post is split into two. I have him under closer at the very end.
