Bill Buckner was a great fielder too. No one talks about that either.

Adam, I'm curious why you don't have Jones in your list?

He played 1B primarily in the fall when he wasn't catching. In fact, he played the position ahead of Frey when they were on the same team in the fall. I actually thought he looked a little better there than Frey did.

In early spring scrimmages, he has been used at 3B on the team opposite of White, but that is in part due to Dugas being out and then Nippolt got hurt in Saturday's scrimmage necessitating a need for another utility type player on the infield. But putting Jones at 3B would suggest he has the lateral movement and glove to play 1B well too.

Because of his bat, I'd have him as the primary backup to Morgan.

Stuff like looking for a certain pitch early in the count that he can do a lot of damage with instead of swinging at a strike just because it was a strike. If he continues with this he will be an elite college hitter. His approach with 2 strikes is good enough to head hunt the pitch he can do damage with early in counts.

Morgan's got some of the quickest hands and is great at protecting the plate already late in counts. Looking forward to seeing the new plate approach. Oppo-taco anyone?

To be honest I see Jones winning the DH job and so I'll have him higher at another position.

new plate approach

I wonder if they dont try to cure him of bailing out so early on some pitches. I love his approach for the most part but hang in there Tre. Someone get this to coach.

Man for someone to win that DH job this year would be so difficult IMO becuase of all the options we have there. I just see it being by committee outside the days Skenes hits there between Jobert, Beloso, Travinski, Dugas (if he doesnt win a position battle), Jones, etc...

This has zero to do with any type of productivity from him. Really all it tells is how good of an eye he has at recognizing pitches and locations really early.

I mean you listed 5 catchers, so you are either trying to be comprehensive or not

Then four 1B and one guy hasn’t played any 1B this offseason and you leave out the guy that actually has. Leah Vann would not have missed Jones

Guess we'll find out tomorrow when she releases her 1B preview.

She sounded really defeated yesterday on AFR. Like she hates her job or something. Didnt know frey vs fry either.

I don't have Jones playing 1B over Tommy White if and when that does come up. After Morgan and White I stopped trying to figure out scenarios to try and make Jones work with the others. I've got Jones starting elsewhere.

At least I don't complain that the MLB draft needs to be handled by email
