Tre is one of the most gifted 1B'men I've ever seen. He makes ALL the hard plays look relatively easy, yet has major brain farts at times with some of the more simpler plays. I'd assume that's why Adam doesn't give him an 80? Regardless, he accounts for more saved outs than errors he's made. Love him at this position.

Tre does have entirely too many brain farts and easy drops on the routine plays which drives me crazy

I agree, all three are basically interchangeable. None will get any major playing time at 1B unless something happens to Morgan.

That answers it. All good points.

I like to compare the hitting and power grades together. I think his hit tool is higher than his power tool up to this point. That is why I would probably have a 10-15 point grade difference in the 2. He can be a .375 avg guy with double digit homers this year it if all comes together and he stays healthy.

Wait for Tommy Tanks power rating.

It's not an exact science but it does give ell a chance to melt.

I’ll take up Ell’s slack on this one. No way are Tre’s speed and power equal. You admitted his speed was not on display last season due to injury. I’m not saying Tre can’t hit the occasional home run here and there, and I won’t argue that if things go his way he could possibly reach double digits this season, but even with that a 65 rating for power puts him in the top 15% of all college hitters for power ability. I don’t see it. Meanwhile, he has very good speed when healthy. That’s a plus skill for him on offense and defense.

I'll melt, let's knock these superstars down a notch and see if they can prove it on the field this year.

Miz defense and hitting too high.
Tre power too high.

I had the same question, seems like it's more potential, however you keep up the the off season stuff, so I hope you're right.

Adam, just curious, but will Crews be your highest rated player ever? Not sure if you kept those ratings or not, but just curious who you've given the most points to?

There is no question he will be. Ironically the closest one that I can think of off the top of my head was Crews from last year. If you were to go and create a player in NCAA Baseball 06 there's not much I would change to what he is in real life...maybe make him 6'2 or 6'3?

Bregman was pretty high in all categories but none of his tools to me topped out when he was in college...he just did everything extremely well and was workaholic.

The offseason definitely showed that Tre was healthy and got stronger. Also listened to an interview with him on Mik'd up (I think) where he said he was working on changing his approach as a hitter to be able to show some more pop. Stuff like looking for a certain pitch early in the count that he can do a lot of damage with instead of swinging at a strike just because it was a strike. If he continues with this he will be an elite college hitter. His approach with 2 trikes is good enough to head hunt the pitch he can do damage with early in counts.

Just for reference, he had 5 HR all of last season in roughly 250 AB. In the fall after getting healthy and working on a different approach, he hit 5HR in 63 AB.

My guess is that Tre plays OF in a few pre-conference and/or mid week games for half the game or so. If Jay likes the look and other things need to be worked out, he may tinker with it on the weekends. I just want a healthy Tre for the full season.

ETA: If Thompson struggles, we may want to take a look at Tre at SS.

I see what you are trying to do there.

I also agree with the OF thing you said. Let him show what he can do for scouts and get some other players some time at 1B and when it comes to crunch time he is at 1B and you also know your options if it needs to be shook up a little during SEC play.

Hanover was clocked at 110 mph from 3B.

And if our starting pitchers struggle I could see Tre pitching.

Nothing crazy like a Friday night pitcher, but definitely the Sunday starter.

This is exactly how I feel and that is why I think he does get off days during the midweek by playing in the Outfield and letting either Beloso or Frey to get time at 1B. I think we got to treat this the same way as we do the Catcher position to keep the players healthy.

I think Breman's fielding was topped out in college the rest I'll give you. He didn't have great speed but stole a lot bases because of his timing and quick twitch. But his fielding was elite and on full display almost every game.

Biggest problem with Tre staying healthy and playing the OF is those stupid bullpens. Would hate to see him go full effort without much practice navigating foul territory with the bullpens in play.

they need to move those bullpens when they upgrade the stadium. That bench is a killer.
