Considering the only have 38 posted on their roster, how many players are red shirting and who are they? Don't they have over 40 total players on campus?

Not that I’m aware of. The 38 is what we’ve got unless I’ve missed something

I remember having some concern last year about inserting Cranford because he was so green, but he's cool as a cucumber. Elite defensively. I really like his bat control. I think he will eventually grow into a higher order guy with a little bit more pop when he puts on weight, but he's just perfect in the 8 or 9 hole right now.
Thompson is going to be a stud, wherever he lands. He can legit play anywhere. Sneaky pop in the bat, very athletic, and not done developing. And, I agree...he may throw some innings. He's just a guy you want to be on the field somewhere.
I'll comment on Arnold on 3B day.

This has been brought up elsewhere, but don't be surprised to see Crews at 3rd at some point on Opening Weekend. It also wouldn't surprise me to see Will Safford in center.

He has the strongest arm in the outfield so it wouldn't surprise me.

That would surprise me opening weekend to be honest.

The reasoning that was given in the Advocate article is pretty sound. We don't want to go into a weekend (especially in the SEC) down a particular position group due to contact tracing and not have anyone capable of filling in.
Crews and Safford being able to play super-sub helps with line up flexibility and helps keep (what are supposed to be) the more reliable bats in the lineup.
ETA: Crews and Cade Doughty both caught innings for the USA National team for different age groups. Safford and Bianco both got time in the fall catching bullpens (along with Crews).
Safford can play 3rd, 2nd, and in a pinch at short.
Dugas can play probably 6 defensive positions competently.
Beloso being able to play in the OF helps.
They got Sanford time at 2nd base in the fall even though he's primarily an OF.

I can see Safford at CF but him starting would mean that Gio has completely regressed.

I think it would be less about that than it would be to knock the butterflies out right away. Notre Dame is the only decent opponent that weekend, so the competition will be similar to midweek. But the experience will be a little heightened by it being opening weekend. So it's a good opportunity to test guys to see if they can handle the moment from an eyeball standpoint, so they can work toward handling from an opposing talent and eyeball standpoint.
Does that make sense?

Totally.
Mainieri typically goes with the vets the first night but I see your theory.

I think we will see virtually the same lineup on Friday and Saturday of opening weekend (assuming no injuries), and then significant shuffle on Sunday.

I like Arnold alot. He has huge upside. If he locks in, with that power, he could be a real dangerous hitter.
Cranford would obviously be fine here, too. I gave my thoughts on him at SS, so I'll leave it at that.
I think Crews and Safford getting time at 3B is just strategic, in case they need to make some big shuffles (covid, contact tracing, struggles at a particular position group, or oversupply at a particular position group).
I think Thompson is also in the rotation at 3B. Bianco, Dugas, and Doughty would probably be fine here, too, in a pinch.
Overall, I think the infield has tons of options no matter what the season throws our way.

Has anyone received a ticket follow up yet?

Nobody that I know has. We have just under 2 weeks until first pitch, so there is plenty of time.

No shite. We are waiting still for ticket info. But I have HR Village parking pass. That SHOULD be good for the year. I'm going to be there regardless if I get tickets for the games. If they don't let me tailgate, I'll sit in my car and listen till the gates clear and then go in. frick it.
This season is gonna be special. I feel it.
