Adam

What would gio need to do this year to be a first round pick, or a top10 pick? Consistent hitting? Just curious.

Obviously his speed and defense are elite

Correct, a consistent hit tool.

He has everything else to be a CF at the next level. He doesn’t need to show power per say at this position.

It’s my opinion. I wish he was 6’2-6’3 but I wouldn’t change anything else.

You really think he is gonna be a top 10 overall draft pick?

Usually top 10 picks are really toolsy. Other than the speed i dont see the other major tool

Yea I’m not seeing Gio in the top 10.

He’s got the speed and according to CPM his glove has improved a lot so I’ll assume he’s got the glove.

In 2019 the only two OF taken in the top 10 were JJ Bleday and Hunter Bishop. Both of whom mixed average with excellent power and elite defense.

I don’t see Gio being on that level this year but god I hope you’re right Adam

ETA: Bleday and Bishop were the only two college outfielders taken in the top 10. There was one high schooler

If he somehow has close to the production of bleday, we will be a top 8 seed easily.

Bleday hit 27 homeruns his junior season.

I don’t think we have to worry about Gio matching that

Like i said, we have insanely different opinions of his production levels if he is anywhere close to one of the best single seasons offensive production we have seen in the SEC. think adam is just way off here. At best id hope for from gio is something close to what andrew stevenson was with a little more pop and a little less of the glove

I meant top 10 rounds for him, it that was taken as top 10 overall my bad.

Top 10 overall pick for Crews in 2023

I edited the post on Gio. We were talking about two completely different players

Do you think Hampton gets a little over looked since he is not with the team year around? He was on the same level as Crews coming out of HS and passed on $1.8mil to come to campus. Would it be a surprise if he gets 1 or 2 starts in the outfield opening weekend?

He was. The difference is Crews got at bats against quality live pitching last summer and during the fall. Hampton did not. Hampton is not going to beat out these guys playing only in the spring. I know he takes some cuts in the cage in the off-season, but it’s not the same.

I don’t necessarily think that he gets overlooked I think he’s just fallen behind. He spent last year hurt. He was hurt this year and when he has been healthy he hasn’t been with the team.

He was always thought to be pretty raw coming into college. He was drafted on potential and he hasn’t given himself much of a chance to realize that potential by splitting time.
