You’re a hack and your grading is stupid.
Boom. Roasted.

Russian, your memory isn't bad. Thompson stole 2nd and 3rd in the first inning and Cranford was thrown out at 2nd in the second. Cranford stole 3rd in the 5th to wrap up the stolen base attempts against Milazzo during the scrimmage. Crews and Cade Doughty had steals against Wyeth in the 1st inning for the Purple team. Sanford and Arnold had steals against Travinski in later innings.

Good to see that we may run a bit more this year.

Mainieri often calls for a bunch of steal attempts in early scrimmages. I assume to determine who is good at stealing bases as much as testing catchers and pitchers.

Yeah. This happens every fall. Only years were we truly aggressive on the bases was when Canni was here.

Well sounds like cranford and thompson are good on the bases, stealing 3rd is no easy feat

I wonder if the shortened draft is here to stay. Since MiLB shuttered the Appalachian league and turned it into an amateur summer league, it would follow that they are just going to have their summer league teams in FL and AZ, cutting down the number of first-year players they need.
More generally, I'm curious what impact the MLB's prospect development pipeline will have on the Cape Cod, Northwoods, and Valley leagues.

The shortened draft is definitely here to stay. Whether it's 30 rounds or 20 rounds is the question. I would guess it will end up being closer to 20 rounds but that's just speculation on my part based on the owners of MLB teams trying to do all they can to ruin baseball.
The draft being pushed back will, I think, make the impact on some of the more well run leagues minimal. Cape Cod league is factored into their plans, as they mentioned it by name and are trying to build their other leagues around it.
Valley, Northwoods, Prospect, NECBL, Texas League, the two leagues in Florida, Alaska, Great Lakes, Cal Ripken, Perfect Game, all of these leagues will have varying degrees of risk. I think in general there is some bloat with collegiate summer leagues, especially when you factor in how little pitching gets sent out for the summer anymore.
There are a lot of leagues that overlap geographically, we could see some consolidation in the Midwest specifically. Or at least some realignment to help keep travel costs down.
Looking at the list of players going to the Appy League so far, it's a lot of D2, NAIA, JUCO guys with a handful of P5 incoming recruits mixed in. Over time it may grow to be more substantial. But I think LSU will still be sending incoming freshmen to Danville (Prospect) and Gaithersburg (Cal Ripken) as they have for several years now.
The overall player pool may increase because of the later draft and guys still trying to boost their stock, but if those guys steer mostly toward the Draft League, I don't see how anything with the rest of the leagues really changes from a player pool standpoint.
