Garza was that good behind the plate last year. Our pitchers didnt hold runners for shite last year, that was the problem

I wasn't expecting C Doughty to play all 3 games. For a true freshman he played with no fear.

I was sitting in the purple seats closest to first base and you could hear the tag...WHAP!... as the runner went by. I have no idea how that ump missed that call.

It was so obvious we were thinking that maybe the ump ruled that Beloso was blocking the path of the runner of something. That was odd.

Stats aside I was impressed with Bianco, Doughty, and Milazzo as newcomers per say.

I’m really disappointed that CJ Willis continues to be a ghost on this roster.

Kim, what's your reaction to the Champions Club doing away with the buffet food line and turning it into its own version of a glorified concession stand?

Between that and beer being available throughout the stadium now my opinion is the appeal of having Champion Club tickets has dropped a notch or two.

Garza looked better behind the plate defensively than he did all of last year. He was getting in front of balls that he was backhanding last year. He has seemed to slim down quite a bit and I would guess that has a lot to do with it. He was moving really well back there.

You have to add Hughes’ two errors to the major disappointments. If he can’t lock down the position defensively, that’s going to hurt.

And I’m not a Champions ticket holder, but I’ve gotten tickets there and I really enjoyed the food. I hope that they don’t mess up a good thing.

Well that’s why giving disappointments week to week is shortsighted. There is no reason to believe Hughes will continue to struggle defensively long term. He didn’t just forget how to play.

Dugas looked so uncomfortable at the plate

In the field too. I always thought of him as a super utility type.

But he made an error at 2B then he screwed up a tag on a stolen base where he stabbed at it instead of let the ball travel to the bag. Perfect throw, the runner should have been out but Dugas didn’t seem to have a great feel for that spot.

Ran in for a ball in RF and looked super unnatural there as well

Pleasant surprise: Doughty, not the freshman liability he was a little bit made out to be

Disappointment: Fontenot, found too many barrels and wasn’t fooling many for the guy you hoped would be a dominant stopper

The "buffet style" thing started about 6 years ago, I think. I am one of the people who have been begging for a change for years. Yes it was a buffet and you could eat all you wanted for $20, but the food was shite. Aramark couldn't handle food for "premium seating". The Champions Club should have always been under TAF control completely, but Skip threw a wrench in that to take care of some of his buddies. Drake's has work to do, but overall I see it as an improvement so far.

I agree with this. Less benefit, but the seats are still the best in the stadium and having access to the Club is a benefit.. Maybe we'll go a couple of years without a ticket price increase!

Yeah i can forgive him not looking great in the outfield being that he didnt practice their a bunch, but i also thought he would look more natural at 2nd. Real disappointing.

Gio and Gavin is a little bit concerning since we already have 1 black hole on offense.

Three black holes in the same line up is a recipe for disaster

Hampton may fill one of those holes sooner than later if it keeps up.

Not worth fretting about. If it persists, some of them will be removed from the lineup. PM is always good for that

Except at shortstop apparently

Thanks for your thoughts.

I guess my palate isn't as discriminating as yours.

I always thought the food was pretty good in the buffet line. I enjoyed their fried catfish with fries and cold slaw.

What I especially appreciated was I could leave my seat as soon as the third out happened, go inside and grab a burger or hot dog with some fries out of the buffet line, fix them up to my liking and be back in my seat before the first batter of the next inning was finished batting.

When the lady at the cash register yesterday told me it would take "no more than 10 minutes" for me to get a hamburger brought out, I just said thanks and never mind.

I don't have Champions Club season tickets but I usually buy CC tickets off of StubHub 5 or 6 games a season, like I did yesterday, but I don't think I'll be doing that again. I'll just stick with my season green grandstand tickets.

My wife's(no pics and who is from Baton Rouge) younger sister's(no pics) boyfriend's best friend played with Dugas at Houma Christian in lousiana I believe it was who 70 percent of their schedule was garbage teams and said many people down in Houma were very surprised he was offered an athletic scholarship to LSU. I was told he works hard, makes good grades but isn't anywhere close to having an sec bat and were surprised he actually plays. I think the tigers are gonna find a way to put it together and have a better season than last year.

You must have missed out on the games when Aramark put moldy hot dog or hamburger buns in the line. I am serious.

Colonnade Group used to have the contract with LSU and started the buffet thing down in the club 5 or 6 years ago and it was good. Aramark took over and it went to shite.

We didn't have a buffet in the Club for the first few years, i.e. it hasn't always been that way. If Drake's offers higher quality food, I'd rather that than all you can eat lower quality food.

That is just my opinion though. Lots of people were complaining this weekend, but most were happy with the change as far as I could tell.

I'm sure LSU will seek formal feedback on the changes from CC ticket holders. I'd be interested in knowing what's said.

One thing I'm confident of, with CC season ticket holders paying either $1,700 or $2,100 per ticket in just the Tradition Fund fees, those fans will give LSU an earful if they think there's a decline in the services of the Champion Club.

Before his torn ligament in his thumb injury last season Dugas was our best and most consistent hitter.

He never regained his form last year after he returned following surgery for the injury.
