A high exit velocity directly correlates with squaring the baseball up.

This is a fact. I can’t be a contrarian over something that is scientific fact

Having the HIGHEST exit velocity possible is about squaring it perfectly, bat speed, pitch speed, and all of that.

You can hit a high shallow fly ball very hard, and it will have a high exit velocity. But it won't sustain it for long, considering the trajectory.

I first took notice of this glitch in how people judge hitters through average exit velocity, when Josh Donaldson was popping medium fly balls, constantly, over the first month or so of last season, but everyone kept raving about his exit velocity being top 5 in the league, or somewhere around there.

And I thought that was stupid. Who cares how hard you hit it if you're getting under it too far?

If you hit a shallow pop up, you are hitting the very bottom of the ball. It cannot travel at a high speed off of the bat

Not trying to be a dick here, but you are off.

Hitting the ball over 100mph is never a bad thing.

Yes, he tries allot of line up pre sec, but eventually it always ends up being
the 9 best hitters with the occasional lefty/righty platoon

You forgot this gem:

* Hal Hughes: "Hughes batted .500 with runners in scoring position, which was as high as anyone on the team." - Scott Long, Dandy Don's

Why should I have included that?

Or, is this just your way of proving your group think by piling on Hughes?

Hughes could hit .330 with 15 homeruns and as soon as he strikes out in the postseason you would still see a barrage of “I ToLD yOU huGHeS SUX FIRE MARNARI!!1!!” from the fricktards around here.

He had two RBIs in game 2. He didn't hit in game 3, but if you are going to complain about Hughes hitting in game three then you need to start crying about a whole lot of players.

Nobody claims Hughes is a good hitter, but the constant piling on from people is tiresome, idiotic, redundant and annoying as frick. Then when you respond to it, the morons act like you are a Hughes fan boy. That's not even true. I wish we had a SS to step in and do better, but until we do people need to shut the hell up.
