I remember the yoUL Laff pitcher, Justin Gabriel trying to start a fight with Wally in the Batting Cages, also. The same guy that was busted for weed a few months later. The Ragin Idiots were a bunch of punks.

Brian Wilson before the beard!
But he's always been out there in interviews.
“I was a little bit tired but I wanted to step it up,” said Wilson. “I knew I didn’t have my upper 90 mile-an-hour fastball or my dirty change-up, and that’s probably why I was able to throw the whole game.”

lsu #1 seed
ull #2
tulame #3
southern with rickie weeks #4 - we beat southern 5-4 when weeks is throwed out at third trying to take an extra base & the runner ahead of him slows to pick up a bat. the ump said that weeks was called out before he crossed the plate.
ull beats us 5-0, we beat tulame 4-2.
sat near the ull ad, & they said that they needed to sweep us or they were in trouble, as they had no pitching to go another game with us
the ump said after the game, that the lsu player with the bat was thrown out to restore order & if he had known that he could not play the final game , hwe would not have done it.
the ull head coach was not the coach that took offense to the lsu batter's looking @ them rounding thirs, it was the current coach at latech.
his comments on the radio caused him to loose the job, he wanted, @ slu. bertman put pressure on slu to hire his pitching coach & that is another story

I remember that game. I lost all respect for ULL after that.
Posted on 6/14/12 at 7:43 am to TimeAndTide
here is what happened.
Someone from ULL's team was good friends with Wally. some of the other ULL players got Wally's phone number out of that guys phone, and spent the days leading up to that game crank calling Wally. Skip said something to their coach before the game about it, and things escelated from there

i cant believe the original poster said there was a benches clearing brawl. good grief.

I do remember the ULL fgt players with the bleached hair in the stands rooting against LSU in Omaha.
Posted on 6/14/12 at 7:48 am to BilJ
yeah that was 2000. that didnt work out too well for them since we didnt lose a single postseason game that year.
Posted on 6/14/12 at 7:51 am to bbap
2000 team so underrated, perhaps my favorite of them all. That was a fun CWS.

LOVE this pic. The next time Heath came up they beaned him and they ejected ULLLLLL's pitcher. Robichaux didn't even try to deny it, saying something like "you don't disrespect us like that." That fricker shoulda been thown out too, at least, as a coach admitting they were trying to hit a player.
No way a LSU pithcer would do something like that right? They didn't do it intentionally this past weekend when SB stole a base being up 7-2

i loved how the one pitcher was so shook up he kept throwing the ball to the backstop in the air. talk about not being able to handle the moment.

I'm not going to say the pitchers name who was warming up in the bullpen and kept showing off his arm and hitting the backstop behind home plate (but he was from Eunice). Also that was a very hot day. Said it before, but funny enough to repeat, my younger brother who was 11 at the time walked toTony before game one and asked him who he was going to start in game 2. Ole boy was pissed. That was a great day.

It was a game that I heard on the radio 10 freaking years ago. Isn't there something in your life where you can only vaguely recall what happened?!
Exactly...good grief.

There was no "mutual agreement" to stop playing each other. That was tied to trouble between the 2 lady softball teams at a regional in Lafayette as well & then Skip made the decision not to play ULLLLLLL for a few yrs. LSU was their home money game & they desperately wanted to keep playing us. As for the ULLLLL coach who ended up at La Tech, he bragged openly bout giving Texas a complete scouting report on us when the horns were to play us. Robichaux also made stupid claims bout Skip pressuring Gold Seat fans to give him their tickets when not used so he could resell them for personal profit. Back then, seats may have cost $8 or so.

That's older brother in that picture sliding into second. He and Rocky are best friends. I was at that regional, remember there being more fights in the stands than anything else...

So when our pitcher beaned the SB player this past weekend because they tried to steal 2nd base with a 7-2 lead, that was O.K?
Why the frick aren't you screaming that Mainieri should have been thrown out? It's the same thing, but obviously you don't see it because of your purple and gold shades.
In that series, ULL came in as the 2 seed really believing they could win. There's nothing wrong with that. I'm sure Tulane and Southern felt they could win also. When Health turned to ULL's dugout while rounding 3rd, ULL responded. Just like LSU responded this past weekend. It's baseball. But obviously you don't get it. All you see is a school not bowing down to the big bad LSU tigers...taking their medicine, getting their arse kicked, shutting their mouth, and crawling home.
How dare ANY school come into Alex Box or Tiger Stadium and think they can win???

The big difference you and your previous Cajun buddy are missing is that Robichaux's comments indicated to me he approved of the bean. I am unaware of any similar comments made by Mainieri. So it's really not the same thing at all.
And who the frick said anything at all about bowing down to the big bad Tigers, and how dare any school come in thinking they can win? You might wanna double your meds 'cause they're not working now, LoyalTiger.

So you really think Mainieri didn't approve the beaning ahead of time, because he didn't publicly admit it? Quit being so naive. It's the same thing.
And YES, some pathetic LSU fans feel like all opposing teams, specifically ULL, should just bow down to the mighty tigers, not try to win, and take it in the arse. How dare they think they can win? If you don't think so please refer back to pretty much any thread discussing ULL vs. LSU, including this one.

The difference is that CPM went to the mound and pulled his pitcher. It was a clear public sign that he did not approve even though privately he may have felt different.
