People really underestimate the value that creating goals and hitting goals provides in life. Good for you.

Nice way to put it, and much appreciated.

Epic bump! Looks like you went for the no-early-payoff option?

For the most part, that's true. A while back, I decided that March would be the time, not for some special reason, but that's what seemed right, so I committed to that.

Congratulations on all that peace of mind you have now, bet it feels a lot better than having more money

Thanks - it'll take a little time for the surreal feeling to cool down, I'd imagine.
Well, this is pretty much all I have to say...

Good Evening,

Can anyone in the NOLA area recommend a carpenter who they would trust to replace a bunch of cypress siding on a house, as well as performing some work on old original windows?

Thanks in advance!

Wow, haven't thought about that name in eons.

Losing the super regional to Tulane in Skips last season is also right up there. After winning game 1 it seemed like it was destiny for Skip to go back to Omaha for one last ride. It was quite shocking and heartbreaking they couldn't get it done, although that was a really good Tulane team. And then Skip going to talk to their team afterwards was all class but hit you in the feels knowing it was the end for him with LSU.

The 3rd game wasn't very good at all, and it was miserably hot that day as well. Still a little bizarre to me that Skip's last game was at Zephyr Stadium.
The Stanford grand slam in the CWS was one of them, but being that we did beat them in a championship game many years later, that did take a lot of the hurt away.
For those who are considering a Speed Queen, of course it's a high quality washer, but one far less expensive alternative is to find someone who sells old school washers that have a rebuilt transmission, new clutch, etc.

My old Kenmore finally gave way after almost 20 years of great service (and it was probably 10 years old when I bought it secondhand).

I figured let's get another Kenmore (just serviced like above) that was built in 2004 or so, and it cost less than $350 delivered, so it's something to consider.

I don’t think the underwriting personnel take that amount of time or are that precise in their information gathering and valuations which probably leads to minimum info being inputted and wild swings in coverage amounts

Thank you for confirming that such a possibility can indeed happen.
That's right - because when people ask for assistance, they sometimes streamline details when doing so. It doesn't mean they lack the info completely, which I can ask for later.

To ask you a much more applicable question, do insurers generate their Coverage A amounts from the same place/program, or say, a select few places that are similar?
What the hell is it with you? Do you honestly think a question can't be asked on behalf of someone else?

Like I said, it ain't my house, so I'm not the one shopping around.

Whether you believe that or not is totally irrelevant to me.

I asked you for the insurer of the quote.

I have no idea, since it's not my home.

What I can tell you is that there are 4 different quotes, which have the separate rebuilding estimates below:

130,000

160,000

206,000

236,000

That's some pretty wild variation.

So go ahead and enlighten me with what I'm missing.

You can do that, right?

Ding bat, answer my previous question

Do you think you can act like an adult first? There's already an OT Lounge out there.

Cost of labor and materials in Orleans is higher than elsewhere in the state. As stated, there aren't 235k new homes being built in Orleans. I would assume that cost includes a new slab and driveway and plumbing. The "cheap looking aluminum things" is probably going to run almost 10k these days.

Just to make sure we're on the same page here, we're talking about rebuilding a home that is already existing. The land is there, of course. So if a terrible disaster happened, is a new slab gonna be necessary? A new driveway?

With the carport, I know from personal experience at my own house (just last year) that there ain't no way it's close to 10K. I didn't even pay $5,000 for one.

Is there a garage, carport, or patio space in addition to that 1,120 square feet? All of that factors into rebuild cost, plus as someone else mentioned…debris removal.

No garage at all, no patio space, and just a very simple carport. The carport at the most would be probably add 3 grand, as most of the time they're just those cheap looking aluminum things on a house like this.
[quote Basic is really cheap Formica countertops, vinyl tile, and a ceiling fan/light in each room. Some of those upgrades don't add much, but when you add them all.[/quote]

That's exactly what this house has, and that's why $236,000 has me bewildered.
I'd swear there was a builder or construction company owner on here recently that mentioned it's around $150/square foot for something basic.

Wish I could find the dang post!
