quote:sacks do not paint a complete picture. Just using stats to verify your argument:
And before yall say Oline, Bama has given up 22 Sacks while LSU gave up 25. So both pretty awful.
Sacks total (as you stated, TY): LSU=25, Bama=22
Rushing ypc: LSU=3.6, Bama=3.6
TFL allowed: LSU=72 (yikes!), Bama=57
Sack per 100 att: LSU=6, Bama=4.8
So yes, Bama's OL performance is almost as bad as ours.... but not quite; they are better in the passing game.
The other factor is their QB:
- they are going to rely on their much better QB than us
- their QB makes quicker decisions, masking some OL issues
Overall I'd say their rushing problems are primarily attributable to OL. Relying on their QB and the system they are running with that QB, just like us, plays into it also where it relies on RPO (slower developing) and it is harder to get extra blockers at point of attack and relies on reacting to the defense at snap which makes having a good (and consistent) running game that more difficult.
Worth noting Simpson did not play well at all yesterday. Part of that was pressure. Most of it. But UGA was confusing the shite out of him (and the OL). When he changed plays he walked right into a trap, he changed the plays to what UGA had found were his tendencies and that's exactly what they wanted.

How in the world was Bamas rushing WORSE than LSU,
It wasn’t … LSU finished dead last, 16th out of 16 teams in rushing offense. ALA finished 12th. FWIW, Mizzou and A&M were # 1 and 2

Oooh! Ooo! I know. I know. That’s an easy one.
1. Bama QB scrambles when nobody’s open. Way more often and better than Nuss.
2. Bama runs fewer WR screens. And I can’t always tell they’re gonna do it when they do it.
When I watch LSU play, I literally say what the play’s gonna be right before the ball is snapped. Run or pass, WR screen.
Play calling sucks.

IMO the SEC not that strong this year. We could’ve beaten OM, Oklahoma and Bama. And OM Oklahoma could’ve been in sec champ game as easy as bama. (ATM whipped out arse, but they were one game away too.)
Not saying bama’s line didn’t get their arse kicked yday. But trying to explain there are probably five teams (even vandy) that were close to playing UGA yday.
TLDR: there wasn’t a clear #2 this year.

How in the world was Bamas rushing WORSE than LSU, but they still made the SEC Conference Championship.
Any other stupid questions?

High qb play at times
Simpson has been awful since the LSU game. He regressed to the mean. I thought he was a serious contender for the Heisman. He came out against LSU and looked like the moment was too big for him even though we were terrible this year. His decline has been puzzling.

Been trying to tell y'all that the only difference between LSU and Alabama this year is good QB play. They are soft in the trenches. One difference is that Alabama doesn't have the youth/inexperience excuse.

When will y'all stop looking at raw yards when it comes to ranking teams.
Alabama had a worse yards per rush than LSU the difference is that they ran the ball 70 more times than LSU so of course the total looks better. It gets worse if you look at how they did on designed runs. Alabama's top 3 RBs averaged 4.0, 3.7, and 4.0 yards per carry. LSU's top 3 averaged 4.8, 4.4, and 4.0 yards per carry.
That's right Alabama's best RB averaged the same yards per carry as LSU's worst main RB.

And “they’ll” probably put them in the CFP which is a damn crime.

Mighty Bama has struck out.
The end of the Bama dynasty? Time will tell.

Top 2 backs out injured could have had something to do with it. Should be 'next man up' with Bama though.
