Load the hell out of the box and trust your secondary to cover these Auburn receivers on islands. This isn’t the week to get too cute and run that bullshite soft zone.

If their wideouts get the best of Pickett, woodland ,beneifeld, Cooley, Thomas and Jackson you tip your cap.i don’t think brown has the accuracy to make tight window throws agaisnt our DB’s for 4 quarters nor do I think these South FL receivers can get consistent seperation agaisnt our DB’s.

Loved what Juice said a few weeks ago about his time here.

They didn’t care who you had, it was best on best every single play.

I understand that situationally, you have packages, plays, etc, but I think overall you place your best guys on their best and let the rough end drag

The issue with playing strictly man vs a running QB is that if he breaks through the front 7 he will often have a big play because the DBs (and in some cases LBs) are running with their backs to the QB trying to cover their man.

10000%

And not just against auburn, EVERY team.

We have faced arguably best QB in country w/ Trinidad - I don’t see another qb on the opposing teams roster that scares me, outside of Bama & his legs.

But again, those two games are at home

This game at auburn could be one we look back at that really spearheaded the momentum for a mid to late season run

You can’t play man on every play with a team with running QB. Once DB truths and runs with WR QB takes off

Baker needs to make quicker and better adjustments against better teams earlier. Don't wait til you give up 2 or 3 easy scores then make adjustments. Waiting to late put us in holes against ole miss and Kentucky. Thing is we tied the games up later but why give up easy TD's early. We maybe undefeated if this happened happened in both games.

Be prepared for a lot of zone. QB is not a great thrower. They will be trying to keep him in the pocket. At least for the first half

This is coming from someone who doesn’t understand football past a bad HS level, but, you can.

You can spy regardless of formation, man, or zone. It’s an assignment

For example, there are a few Cover 1 looks where the SS can spy and the FS is the deep safety

We do this every time…sending 3 or 4 rarely works for us. He is a bad enough passer though.

We didn’t blitz Minchey enough and it killed us

That’s why you put your 2 free defenders right in the middle of the field. You can play a robber with a center fielder behind it, you can use a spy with a centerfield with behind it. Of course you can’t play the same D every single play but that’s how you stop Brown. Teams did this to JD5 his first year at LSU and had great success with it.

Well considering Auburn is last in the conference in sacks allowed, we better get home with 4. Kentucky’s o line is really good plus they held us the entire game

The issue with us is not that we play zone coverage. Its that we are not good at playing zone coverage lol.
There are too many soft spots in our zones. Even the walk on from MooSt was finding a rhythm against it.
Also doesnt help if you cant get quick pressure while playing zone

We may match up on the outside, but you are going to see a lot of zone and hybrid packages with zone in the middle to load the box and contain Brown and their run game.

If we play straight man, they will go 5 wide and run Brown up the middle with 5 OL vs 4 DL and 1 LB. And their OL is good. Living in straight man outside of passing downs would be fricking moronic.

We have had plenty of success outside of 2 min or less drives when we are playing zone and either blitzing or fooling the other team on who’s pressing vs dropping.

The other thing that would really help is more disguising pre-snap. Maybe Baker doesn’t feel they are ready for that with the constant shuffling and injuries, but that plus pressure is how you get easy picks in zone by fooling a QB into a bad read.

Like Reed, if you can make Brown have to throw the ball to sustain drives, he’s the perfect QB to play a lot of zone against. Reading defenses and making accurate intermediate throws is not a strength for him.
