They aren’t waiting 8 months to make a decision. They will announce if he is staying as soon as we are eliminated from the SEC tournament.

What’s funny is he calls Reed our best player. A guy who hasn’t started half the games he’s played in and averages 6ppg. These people are insane

Is he a bad X’s and O’s coach or did he lose his best player again this season plus his second best in Thomas?

I believe the end of the Kentucky game answered this question.

Who cares. It's basketball. We are a baseball and football school....and it's baseball season.
with the exception of only a few schools, no one cares about college baseball.

Now sure, I love that LSU is an elite baseball school and want us to win every year, but in the broad scheme of things, baseball is a minor sport.

That’s right and 9 of those 16 conference wins came in year 2. I’m not a mathematician but that leaves 7 in the other 3 years. An average of 2.33 sec wins a year. Again no mathematician here but that’s roughly 1.457 million a win. McCantWin has a pretty damn good gig here. I also think he should be arrested along with Dough Boy.
S Dough Boy W - murder, conspiracy of murder(killed MBB)
McCantWin- Robbery, accomplice to murder

What’s crazy is the fans who think it’s some impossible or incredibly expensive fix and that LSU just can’t afford to be good in basketball. Bad hires that linger too long not only have a negative effect on your program between the lines, it affects fan perception of everything concerning the program. 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 15 years ago nobody thought this way.

I will coach LSU basketball for $200K per season. I will implement the Paul Westhead Run and Gun offense that Paul ran with LMU and George Mason University. I will get players that are in top physical condition . Will not be boring like McFish is doing. Will go at least 0.500 in conference.

Yea its funny how this unlucky narrative is starting to just get slammed on this board and online all of sudden.

It's been slammed on this board for a while.

quote:

ust keep in mind if we didn't get curb stomp at home by an 11 win team and a 12 win team, CMM probably would be keeping his job.

But he did.

quote:

Hell with our Kenpom, you win those two and you beat OK and OM we would probably be right on the bubble.

But we didn't beat those two.

We are currently #55 on KP, #67 on NET, and also #67 on the Torvik team rankings, which are all used by the committee when deciding who to place. At 67, with several conference autobids being worse than 67, LSU is not in, heck, at 55 they are probably not.

They have 3 Q1 games to play (@ Texas, vs Bama, and @ Auburn), and 3 Q2 games (@ Ole Miss, vs Oklahoma, and vs A&M) to play. All but Ole Miss and Oklahoma are net-ranked better than LSU and will be favored.. I don't know if winning 4 of those will get them in unless they win all three Q1s.

Sunk cost

That money is owed him no matter what

This is not what sunk cost means. The sunk cost fallacy would be if we keep him because we've already paid out around $13M.

Consider this....

Option A: We fire him and eat the $8M still owed for 3 more years. We hire a hotshot guy for the same price, around $9M over next 3 years.

Option B: We keep CMM through the end of his contract, 3 more years which is I think around $9M.

Cost of Option A: $17M for the next 3 year period

Cost of Option B: $9M for next 3 years

So, it is not a "sunk cost" situation if you look forward 3 years and assess total cost.

The cheaper option is to keep CMM. It is also the most futile option if you like good basketball, but I digress.

There is not a booster at LSU who cares deeply enough about basketball to inject millions of dollars into the program. Maybe if Wade came back, but I haven’t heard he’s interested in a return. Kim retiring could also free up some basketball money. Any idea how long she wants to coach?

OP is one of those defiant nut jobs that was declaring on here that Miles, Orgeron and Kelly "Weren't going Anywhere" just right before they got canned.

Rousse and Mallett want WW back in here and the $$$$ will come flowing in if he's announced as the HC.

If basketball disappeared forever, I wouldn’t even know it! LSU needs a break between winning programs. That should always be mid January to mid February!

You say this, but look at schools like Iowa State who just canceled the rest of their gymnastics season and have a 25+ million dollar per year sports budget deficit.

When some of these small schools are forced to make decisions of what sports to keep, basketball will always come before baseball.

Its going to be real fun when half the country doesn't have baseball programs anymore
