Back in the day it used to be “Are the boys having fun?”.

These days it’s win the national championship or fire the coach.

Do you people realize in the 90s there were twice back to back years when we didn’t win the NC. You know what? Those guys were playing their asses off and enjoying every second of it.

Sports has come to a place I don’t recognize and unfortunately the fans have come along for the ride.

Lmao when was the last time college sports was about “are the boys having fun?” This is high level college baseball with tens of millions of dollars being spent, not your little league team.

How much was Skip getting paid? Were any of the 90’s players making hundreds of thousands to play in college? It’s not remotely the same game nowadays. It sucks and I miss the days where it was kids playing for the love of the game but it’s naturally going to be less fun when millions of dollars are on the line

Fullerton in 94 was not fun. Several seconds of it.

Ridiculous take. There are plenty of reasons to have the opinion of the game changing, and not liking those changes. But it being just about having fun back in the day is not one of them.

LINK

Watch that and tell me it was just about having fun.

When Fullerton score 3 TD’s on us in Omaha? Then in 95 the NCAA sends Fullerton to Baton Rouge to be the one seed. That year LSU got blown out twice by Rice.

The highlight of that regional was watching ULM nearly beat the 1-seed.

First of all, please stop with the hyperbole, as if any serious person is calling for Jay to be fired. Second, no one is mad because they expect to win the championship every year. People are upset because there is a standard here, and specific to this year's roster, there were high expectations. But a lot of players haven't lived up to the hype.

Lastly, these guys are paid now. Some of them quite a bit. That changes the player/fan dynamic, as they are basically semi-pro's now. And with the portal, we don't have the opportunity to really latch onto "team" guys very often anymore. It's a free agent frenzy every year.

Agreed. I think it’s the society we live in now. People don’t have the patience to watch a college team struggle, develop, and improve over time. Expecting championships every season is utterly unrealistic.

It's professional baseball now, Brosephus.

It was all amateur back then.

When players are being paid more than most of the fans, that's goes out the window.

I don’t give a shite if they’re having fun. They’re getting paid.

Do you think Skip was handing out juice boxes during the years we didn't make the CWS?

And missing a 64 team playoff when you have more resources than 99% of the country and your head coach has the highest salary in the country is ridiculous
