He certainly had a great game against St. Bonaventure with Smart and Watford in foul trouble.
He is apparently one hell of a shooter in practice but it has never really translated to games. He does some other things well. From NY so may wanna go somewhere closer to home or just a situation where he has a bigger role

Likely displaced by an incoming transfer, but if Mwani Wilkinson makes a jump as expected as a sophomore he would knock Hyatt down in the rotation for sure.
Plus you have Fudge and Knight coming eligible and Hyatt would have seen in practice what they were capable of.

A bit surprised to see him go as he was a guy that definitely could have been a good role player. And one with experience.
IMO, Hyatt gets a bad rap. He was a good rebounder and a solid defender on a team that often had very few. The problem his he was billed as a 3 point shooter. When he struggled from deep people simply ignored all the other good things he did for a team that needed those aspects MUCH more than they needed his scoring.
He seemed like a good teammate and someone who never caused trouble. You wish success for those guys even if it isn’t at your school.

Don’t think Wade tells him to look elsewhere. I knew one of the 2 would be out. Don’t think Cook jumps ship but you never know. Wade thinks the world of Cook and he’ll be a guy that will get more minutes this year even with transfers coming in.
His potential as a college basketball player is high. He has the ability to score in volume, distribute and defend. I think he’ll be a guy who sticks around until his Sr year. You never know though. Can’t be mad at Wade for doing whatever he can to get the players that are needed to be competitive.

I don't think this is necessarily a processed situation. I think he wanted an opportunity to play. He filled a role last year for a bigger guard type, but with Knight and Fudge on the wings, he didn't have a place to play. I think he will transfer to a smaller school and be a really solid player.
Sucks he's leaving but it's not a huge loss with Knight and Fudge replacing him. Especially if Adam Miller comes in, now all the sudden LSU is a legit SEC contender again (if we get a good big man still)

Yeah he committed to Georgetown and then switched to LSU I think after a coaching change at Georgetown

Yeah. It’s going to be more and more common.
Wade didn’t discard Hyatt. That’s not to say he was going to be a centerpiece. Too many refuse to acknowledge even the slightest negative event.
