He played really well at the end of the year and gave some great minutes. Was a solid glue guy

Cook can score and will if he gets an opportunity. Never heard of Cook complaining only that a parent wasn’t happy he didn’t get more time.

Very disappointing. Hyatt was one of our few players that actually wanted to rebound and play defense. He was huge in our 1st round win in the tourney with 13 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks.

According to Billy Embody, the guys that are coming in have more of a defensive mentality. Maybe Hyatt saw that they were more athletic and explosive than he is with those same attributes.

You guys have to understand that starting with the Arky game during the SEC tourney teams flat out refused to guard Hyatt or Gaines unless the ball was in their hands. Turn on the tape and you’ll see defenses playing 5 on 4 against us for large portions of the game. Hyatt did a good job of taking advantage and getting himself some offensive rebounds and easy scorers but he shouldn’t have been a starter.

Good luck to him. Kid was inches away from being a legend.

I definitely see us as more of a defensive team next year and Hyatt is not a great player, but he was a solid role player and played really well in the SEC tournament and in our 1st round win in the NCAA tourney. He was our 2nd-leading scorer and rebounder in that game. It just would have been nice to have a solid role player with a few years of experience on the team, but maybe he wanted to play even more.

Pear always spoke highly of Hyatt in the off seasons and he got a nice bump in play time this season. I’ll hold back on the concern and see who comes in.

I’d be way more bummed if Cook hit the peartal. Always felt like Cook deserved more time, but I ride with Pear regardless

We had a number of guys that teams didn't care about covering with Leblanc, Wilkinson (because he seldomly shoots), Gaines, etc. Yes, Hyatt was not the other team's priority on D, but he also drove to the hoop a few times with dudes right in his face down the stretch and made the shots.

In the 1st round NCAA tourney win, he was also our best defensive player with 4 of our 5 blocks and 1 of our 2 steals for the game. He obviously is not irreplaceable, but he had proven that he could be a big contributor in some big games.

Evidently Wade didn't think so.
Seemed like a good kid though. Hoepfully he finds a place better suited for his play.

Hyatt will do very well at a mid-major type team.

Uhhh was he though? Please tell me what game he was “balling” in?

He hasn't gotten much chance, honestly.

Doesn't mean he can't "ball" though. Hope he stays because he'll be a huge contribution at some point.

If Cook leaves that's on Cook. Smart is gone and Thomas may likely be gone (not sure why no declaration yet). There's at least one spot to vie for this year. It's up to him to get it. The reason they got beat in the tournament is because when they took their top scorers out of the game, no one else could do it effectively. LSU needs bench scoring at the very least.
