Agreed. The LSU game was always one of my favorite of the year. Not loving Auburn's schedule. I said if they were dropping LSU I would like to get Florida back, but they stuck us with Vandy, Kentucky, and Mizzou in '24.

Auburn not playing LSU or either Mississippi school is the end of an era in SECFB.

Ill miss it for that uniform combo alone amongst other reasons. When Auburn plays LSU its my favorite 2 uniform combo in college football.

And it became a great fricking rivalry thereafter.

Year over year, one of the best games, most competitive games on our schedule - is Auburn.

They always have a pretty good team. Our games with them are hard-fought, one-score games most of the time.... and it's been a fun rivalry.

I don't like it either but if it means we lost them for 1 season and get Oklahoma in Death Valley... I'll just have to be ok with it.

I always liked the hard hitting match up with Auburn, but will not miss the classless crap they often brought ( Nick Fairly, cigar games, stomping on the Tiger Eye, nearly everything Tommy Tuberville represented).

This. I've always put the Florida and Bama rivalries above Auburn

I agree. I do not like what college football is becoming.

Change has always been a constant in college football. While I definitely enjoyed the LSU v Auburn annual game, it really was a relatively new "rivalry" in the SEC. Prior to 1992 LSU and Auburn would play roughly 2-3 times a decade.

I think what you are seeing in college football is a consolidation of the "big" programs, with the smaller conference schools going by the wayside. "Regional" conferences are becoming far and far less regional, and eventually you will probably see a league made up of just teams from the (5-10 years ago) SEC, Big 10, Big 12, ACC, Pac-12. The ULLs, Kent States, San Jose States of the world won't be in that division any longer.

The days of seeing LSU play 8 SEC games, 1 power-conf. non-conf. game, and 3 "rent-a-win" games vs the likes of Southern, UAB, are eventually going to come to an end. The expanded playoff was the next big step in that happening.

I know some will disagree (which is fine), but college football for me is simply a form of entertainment. It is not entertaining to watch LSU play Grambling, Georgia Southern, etc. Nor is it entertaining to watch any of the big opponents play those teams (even though they occasionally resulted in upsets). I much rather watch LSU play "equal" opponents from a competition standpoint. That's why you see many fans excited about the 2024 schedule where LSU will play USC and UCLA to go along with 8 SEC teams. Now imagine that schedule also included teams like Illinois and NC State for example. Yes, going undefeated would be much tougher. But the expanded playoffs would significantly mitigate the need for that.

Like most things, many would reject the change initially, but ultimately come to like it.

People are acting like Auburn is leaving the SEC. It’s not the end of the world. We will get them in 2025. One freaking year break. Relax

not at all in '24
likely on the road in '25 (since we're home this year)
not at all in '26
then finally at home in '27

I'd rather give up Auburn and keep UF. Sucks we're stuck with A&M

We don’t know that for sure. They said they will start over on talks about 2025 and beyond

There is no scenario under which Auburn will remain an annual opponent for LSU. They will have Alabama and then Georgia if there is more than one permanent. They will not have the 3 strongest programs in the conference as permanent opponents.

Let’s lose the A&M game and keep Auburn.

It’s not going to happen. Auburn will not have Alabama, Georgia and LSU as permanent opponents. That would be ridiculously unbalanced.

It will be OK. I like LSU-Auburn every year but they didn’t play annually until 1992. Used to be a rare occurrence to play Auburn. Now, most likely, it will be every other year, which is still more frequently than it was before 1992.

I’m more pissed we kept Arkansas this year at the expense of Mississippi State. We’ve play MSU more than any other SEC team and we’ve played them annually since 1943.

I couldn’t give two shits about playing Arkansas or Texas A&M in fake rivalry games and if the boot trophy somehow got lost and was never found, that would be a great thing.

It’s only one year. Ultimately, LSU is likely playing both teams every other year.
