Auburn is coming off a huge road win at Georgia and is still unranked. Kentucky had just come off a huge road win in OT at South Carolina, overcoming a 17-point deficit and was also unranked.

No doubt Kentucky had a chip on their shoulder when LSU came into Lexington. Similarly, I am sure Auburn will have an even larger chip on their shoulder when we come into town this week. And Jordan-Hare is a way more hostile environment than Lexington.

I hope our Tigers are ready to go full throttle from the opening kickoff and to maintain intensity and focus for 60 minutes. We all know the history at Jordan-Hare. I hope CLK has this team focused and ready!

GEAUX TIGERS!

Auburn’s qb isn’t half the passer that Menche is.

He don’t have to be. State’s freshman was able to get quite a few good looks vs our defense.

LSU's defense, on the road, isn't the defense Georgia is at home.

Should LSU's defense be able to perform well? Yes.

Will they for more than 1 quarter? TBD

No, but he's twice the DT QB that Menche is. Stop the QB runs and LSU wins. That just hasn't been our strength

I know. He really ripped us apart on his way to scoring 0 points.

Their QB runs the ball extremely well. Blake better have a better gameplan defensively to eliminate the counter and QB run plays.

The offense has to come out on fire and execute. You can’t wait to get the offense going until the end of the half or beginning of the second half when you are on the road. We know Baker is likely going to struggle containing this QB so the offense needs to strike fast and keep their foot on the pedal. No stupid arse penalties or TO’s.

Defense is gonna need to toughen up. Brown is not elusive but he is a big dude will try to run you over. Need a dawg that can take him 1 on 1 or they need to swarm and gang tackle him

It will be the same as every other team, a deepish zone, make him take underneath while keeping eyes on him. Mush rush to try to keep him in pocket. The bet is he wont be able to keep hitting all the short stuff without making a mistake. Chambliss did not make the mistakes.

He will scramble some, the rant will call for a spy, he will scramble some more and the rant will melt down. Then we will say we should be in tight man, just getting run down the field with back to the scrambler, and blitz more so we open up big ol lanes.

Yeah everyone sweating the defense but to me this is where Kiffin needs to put his stamp on the game and use our offense to make it easier on the defense.

Doesn’t matter how good the defense plays if we keep putting them on the field against that QB without a cushion to be aggressive.

Against OM we punted on our first three possessions while the defense held them to 3 pts on their first two drives. But eventually the floodgates opened because Chambliss could play care free and they scored on three straight TDs before the half.

The defense played their best half of football all year in the second half against Kentucky holding them to 3 points on SIX possessions before the final drive, but LSU only got 10 from the offense on those same six possessions.

The offense had possession after to possession to bury that team and end the game but they couldn’t do it. Thats why I didn’t understand all the Baker hate. Yeah the last drive and OT sucked but the game should have been over in the 3rd quarter if the offense had done their job on even half of their possessions while the defense did theirs on 5/6.

There is no bigger fan of Kiffin than me but that is not why we brought him here. That looks a lot like the past several coaches we’ve had in BR not the offense driven team we want to be.

We don’t want to be depending on the defense to constantly shut down all the dangerous QBs throughout the SEC for drive after drive.

We want the offense to score early and often putting the opponent in positions where they are playing from behind giving our defense the chance to be aggressive and force turnovers and steal possessions and swing field position.

That’s how a Kiffin program should operate, not the other way around.

If we are punting and settling for field goals early I think we lose or best case it’s another photo finish because it will allow Auburn time to break a big play. It will happen eventually and I am not the one blaming Baker when we made the Kiffin hire for him to be the difference in games, not his DC.

Start fast, be aggressive, and keep the ball out of their QBs hands by extending drives on 4th when the opportunity is there.
