Deep down inside I will always be grateful for his contributions and genuine love of Louisiana and LSU. He went out & got Burrow and Brady and made it happen. 2020 was much sweeter than 2007 and 2004 (IMO).

As sweet as 2019 was, it doesn’t top 2004. For me at least. I was 10 and went to every home game sans Western Carolina. Went to the natty. Partied on Bourbon with my moms fiancée who took me to the game. Titties everywhere. 2019 was kind of expected after we beat Bama.
As for how I will remember O, I don’t know. I thought it was a lazy hire. If he hadn’t gotten Burrow, he’d have more than likely gotten fired this year. But he did, and in getting Burrow and then Brady, pulled off the greatest season in CFB history. I’ll always appreciate him for that. However, knowing the title ix stuff really screws up my mental image of him. I don’t understand how he could do it. I really thought he was an earnest, straight up guy that’d overcome a lot and appreciated where he was in life. You don’t cover stuff like that up and have a clear moral compass, which is what I thought O had. Damn I hate this shite.

On that note alone, he should be remembered more fondly than Les Jerk arse.

Les Miles - Won a championship, maintained the program well enough that it took less than a year to rebound to winning a whole lot of games

Ed O - Won a far more convincing championship, immediately burned the program to the ground

You can think what you want, but I will be remembering Les more fondly than O. I will always cherish the 2019 season, even if the coach who brought us it sucks.

Its really sad that Coach O gave us the greatest season in LSU history just last year and so many of our fans have turned on him. They can't even give the man a year to turn around a team that lost multiple coaches, 14 players to the NFL, and another 7 players opt out/quit or enter the transfer portal during a pandemic that totally changed summer practice and preparation for this season. If we fire Coach O this season its a sad day for LSU and a poor reflection on our administration and fans.

I’m still getting over the fact that everyone with an opinion on the hire back in 2016 was right:

“CEO fits the program like a glove and will bring us LSU a championship”.

“CEO will destroy the program”

Congrats to both sides of the debate. You tied...

people who called O Gene Chizek might be validated.

Both had transcendent QB's who transferred in and led their teams to NCs but couldn't sustain anything close to that success

I think he reminded everyone that LSU is a sleeping giant. With a great coach who has the X’s and O’s But can also build a program we have the ability to be better than anyone

no comparison between the two, 2019 was undisputed championship and 2003 title was questioned with USC winning the AP poll. Oklahoma should have never been in the 2003 BCS championship game. LSU slipped in with 2 losses

But hey each to his own, 2019 is the greatest season in LSU history

You’re thinking of 2007 with the two losses thing

I wish that exhibition matchup between LSU and USC after the season had ended actually happened. Some corporations were willing to throw money at it to see who the real champion that year was. That would have been a fantastic game

This was a Les problem as well (“NFLSU”)

Except Les was losing Juniors to the draft, not 5 star Freshmen 8 games into their career.

You are right and I feel like LSU-USC game would have been the real title match.

Always kind of pissed me off that the AP voted USC champion and to some put a slight damper on that championship.

Now with the CFP the AP poll is meaningless

As a coach who loved lsu was dealt a serious blow by a new inexperienced qb, a pandemic, no spring practice to help you g ab’s and replacing roughly 17 starters. Also losing both coordinators. Give me another coach that was dealt all those cards and not to mention the fake racism bull shitt.

if O is gone after this year, then that means he has basically destroyed LSU football.

i will not look back upon him fondly.
2019 is only worth so much. If in one Calendar year, you erase that, you deserve to be hated.
