I disagree. He's demonstrated enough athletic ability to project at a corner OF spot.

I've seen some athletic people who are really bad at playing OF.

Without having seen him play LF, I'd have more confidence in him out there than Marcell Ozuna, who I once saw try to climb the outfield wall to rob a HR on a ball that landed on the front edge of the warning track.

And Ozuna won a gold glove.

This is true.

Look a little bit of this is blind optimism on my part I'll admit.

Dude looked absolutely lost at the plate this year…like really bad mechanics, bad plate discipline, etc

If he gets more of Josh Pearson’s 2025 ABs, it might have been different

idk, if Stanfield comes back he's still not starting in 2026 with Brown and Curiel being basically locks for the OF next year

If DC switches to CF where does Stanfield go? Right? Left?

Dammit I truly liked that dude. Very talented and seems like high character as well. Wish him the best, other than against LSU.

Would have loved him to stay, but I get it. He’s a very good player, but that doesn’t ensure he’s an every day starter next year. Good luck to him.

Really sad to see him go. So much promise there. Good luck to you, Ashton.

If Johnson really wanted to talk him into staying he would have done so.

Hate this. Guess this means Stanfield is coming back.

Was hoping Larson would get a look at 1rst.

He has the measurables and athleticism to play a corner OF spot

Why do you have to be a certain height/weight to play outfield?

I'm talking about his speed, agility, arm strength, exit velo, etc (measurable attributes of his "tools"), not his height/weight.

Go look at his scouting reports. They don't need to see Frey play left field for a year to know he has the tools to play a corner outfield spot at the next level.

If Johnson thought Larson was the answer, LSU fans would have never met Chris Stanfield.
