Finished going 1 for 16 (A single) in the Super/CWS for Texas with a Ba of just .258 on the season.

He didnt have an XBH the entire NCAAT in 35 PA

And he was their 1st baseman ultimately

He had 7 doubles, 0 triples and 1 HR the whole season over 173 plate appearances, a guy who played mostly 1B and DH'd for them...

Not the "fix" some people thought he could have been this season here earlier on. He really struggled

And yet this board will continue to gaslight itself into thinking Ashton Larson is good at baseball.

He was good here in limited pt.. He looked like s good player to me. Some pan out. Some don't. Why call it differently?

Didn’t Lester start a thread following players who left?

Ashton? That's a very old name. I know a couple of Ashtons in their 70s and I recall at least one that were the same age or older than my great aunt and uncle, who were born in the 1890s.

Baseball is a hard sport to play, he needs development.

He's spent a combined 3 years at 2 of the best college baseball programs on the planet. Any development needs lie with the player at this point - it ain't coaching or other resources.

He is good at baseball, and wish he had stayed. It was a numbers game and don't blame him for leaving. Don't understand the need to shite on him.

Yorke hit .226 and had 2 doubles, 0 triples and 6 HR in 158 plate appearances (115 ABs) with an OBP of .411 and an OPS of .811. 28 runs scored and 19 RBI

Larson hit .258 and had 7 doubles, 0 triples, and 1 HR in 173 plate appearances with an OBP of .458, and an OPS of .769. 21 runs scored and 16 RBI

There is no significant difference in favor of Larson over Yorke. And a significant drop in offense over Braun.

Braun hit .314 and had 5 doubles, 1 triple, and 3 HR in 187 plate appearances with an OBP of .475 and an OPS of .904. 30 runs scored and 21 RBI.

No doubt he is. People pretend he was processed; he was not. Broski is hyperbolic.

Larson was about the same as Yorke for the season. From the 1st base perspective, he would not have been a real upgrade.

If he had stayed, he probably would have played in the outfield when Stanny was hurt, then when Brown was hurt. The risk would have been that he would have played first instead of Braun getting his chance there. But it is all speculation.

Seems to be a constant thing now. It has even bled into doing that to current or former players who are disliked for whatever reason.

He was a decent player. Made some good plays with the glove this year at Texas. Not elite and not seeing how he would have changed anything this season for the Tigers.
