I'd have to know who his backup plan was if he didn't land kiffin.

Also, I don't think Verge did anything that crazy. Lsu is a great job. It's not like you have to really sell it.

Imo Verge basically told kiffin you can do and have whatever you want.

He’s just doing what he is told and he was told to hire Kiffin. Let’s not act like it was his idea and he had anything to do with the package put together to hire Kiffin.

If anything, listening to Kiffin and putting the pieces together from others interviews it sounds like Gov Landry deserves the credit for having Woodward fired and Kiffins hiring go as smooth as possible.

You have no clue about how that went down at all.

Other than the independent report and his own statements. You should read them. Educate yourself before speaking like you know.

Verge has been solid at everything he’s done at LSU since he stepped on to campus as a player

Does that include non-conference scheduling? That's been Verge's responsibility for over a decade.

I admit that I was dead wrong about the Verge hire and thought that it was a lazy knee jerk reaction at the time. We’ll see about his future decisions but this is as big of a get as there is! The way this all went down was like 5D Chess, And with Florida involved to boot! Long live Verge!

Woodward was a big part of the problem. He needed to be fired for the mess we had. Thank our boosters for the bailout. Just glad he's gone along with Kelly and Sloan. Davis shouldve been out the door as well. I am more excited for Lane being here and feel like we are fixing to wreck shite. Next seasons schedule is brutal though.

As much as I loved Woodward,
why?

He failed on the Kelly hire and the McMahon hire. And has a history of giving massive contracts to his football head coaches.

I say good riddance.

Woodward definitely had flaws and we all know them now that he’s been fired. But he did also bring some sanity and organization back to the Athletic Dept after Alleva and King ran it like a three ring circus. He improved fundraising and got things running more smoothly, especially on the NIL front.

The BK hire didn’t work and the contract was a reach, but Woodward did do a lot of good for the department overall. And he brought us Mulkey and Johnson. Hell, is McMahon starting to show signs of life with a real roster? I was ready to leave him for dead like most here.

I think Verge was the perfect replacement for the moment and will do a great job building on the foundation that Woodward helped to set in recent years.

He is a fine and humble young man, raised in an outstanding family of educators. His Dad is smiling down from heaven with pride.

Verge protected the shield by hiding and covering up the rapes and DV by Drake Davis. Took the fall and now is getting the reward. He’s not a “good guy”‘ he’s a POS that should have been fired along with the Title 9 debacle. F. Him.

He took the fall, as you noted, which means some higher ups (with lots of Money) likely were involved behind the scenes and wanted this done but Segar and Verge were the ones that if it went South would "take the fall".

Sort of like the scene from Apocalypse now when Captain Willard (played by Martin Sheen) gets the Mission to go take out Col. Kilgore and Willard gets "This Mission never existed" in case it blows up.

The hypocrisy of this place and most of you nerds that post here is astounding

two weeks ago Jeff Landry and Verge Asbury were the worst two things people that happened to LSU and now that everybody gets what they want then all of a sudden oh we love them they’re great!!!!!

Verge seems to be a man on a mission: focused and strategic.
