Is in anything but conservative. Like Kennedy, Cassidy and so many other Democrats, he switched parties to run for state-wide office. He’s a trial lawyer in the pockets of trial lawyers. He’s about as conservative as JBE.

Yes
But closed primaries may mitigate that a bit. The open primary system had a habit of boiling the options down to the two lowest denominators. We had to choose between a former disgraced governor and a Klansman in 1991.

Wags was the better choice; he just got into the race too late. The kingmakers already put their money behind Landry. The deep pockets in Lafayette pushed him across the finish line.

Name a better candidate that election?

I voted for the dude, but if he keeps going and fricks this search up, i won't be voting for him again. Don't touch LSU athletics. Don't frick up one of the only things i like about this state.
ALL OF THIS!!!

Agreed.
There's no situation where airing your dirty laundry in public is a good choice.
Maybe Scott Woodward needs to go, maybe not. I personally think he's done a much better than average job.
It may be a great thing to slow the outrageous contracts these coaches have through Jimmy Sexton. 100 million dollar guarantee is mind blowing.
However, it's almost NEVER a good idea to go public with these personal disagreements.
Bad form Gov. Landry. STOP!

He needs to shut up but I would vote for him 1 million times before I vote for a commie, America hating liberal. Again, stfu Jeff!

Only soft republicans would say qualifiers like "as a conservative." Get your T levels checked.

I love how much he pisses you people off.

At this point it’s either this idiot or voting in someone whose party can’t define the word woman.
This argument is bullshite. We have primaries. You have your chance to pick someone better from your own team.

If he wants to get re elected he needs to shut up. He fricking around with LSU football and he will get ruined

Landry trying his best to turn Louisiana blue.
Based on his comments, he told the BOS to form a search committee to find and hire Coach Sumrall.
I wouldn't actually hate that hire if he were the back-up plan, but sounds to me like he is the plan and all the talk about big contracts and metrics based incentives is to try to convince us its the right hire.

I think insurance companies and trial lawyers should select the next head coach at LSU .

Yall do realize there were multiple Republican candidates last governor election. It wasn’t like the choice was Landry or a dem.
But anyway here we are with him publicly meddling.
What a mess.

Jeff Landry is the king of cheesy performance politics.
I think he does himself more harm than good with his antics.

His comment about Trump also guarantees that Trump makes a comment about being asked to hire the next LSU coach because he only hires winners. If anyone missed Landry's speech, they won't miss it when Trump uses it.

Hes an embarrassment to conservatism... hes a literal caricature of the worst parts of it
