Didn't realize how well they did hit in conference.

Cade was 2nd (to Daniel Jackson) in OPS and tied for 2nd in HRs (12). Mason was 5th in BA (.355).

How Braun only started 20 conference games is puzzling,

Arrambide is more than capable as a hitter. He’s not comfortable behind the plate. He needs a defensive position he can play at an SEC level because catching is not it. Either that or accept the DH role.

I’d like to see if arrambide at first would work and see how Serna develops as a catcher..

But if arrambide could develop as a better receiving catcher he is pretty solid at gunning runners down imo

Serna isn’t exactly Yadier Molina back there

He needs to work on receiving and blocking. Dude has a cannon and threw out several runners. That’s his position.

Maybe he can get with a good coach this summer that can fix him

Because around the time we started SEC play he wasn't hitting well. In hindsight, I'm sure Jay probably wishes he would have just stuck with him a little bit more but it's easy to see why he didn't.

Braun was really good for a freshman. Even his BB/K ratio was impressive.

Serna came on nicely.

Because the light came on for Braun at the right time. Up to that point, he wasn't exactly tearing the cover off the ball.

Those are the 3 you need to build around for next year. Braun, Serna, Bide. Now if only Serna and Bide would develop a glove.

We need an elite SS somewhere, 3B, and 2nd. Someone needs to push Ruckert until he proves he can be a reliable glove in the infield.

Because we rolled with Yorke at 1B until Jay had seen enough of him then went with Braun.

He is no better than Arrambide. Could Serna develop more and be better? Sure. So could Arrambide.

Let's look at the stats for 2026

Cade Arrambide - in 435 chances, he had 5 errors(2 catcher's interference) and 6 passed balls. In 24 stolen-base attempts, he threw out 9.

Omar Serna Jr. - In 259 chances, he had 5 errors(1 catcher's interference) and 6 passed balls. In 21 stolen base attempts, he threw out 4

Let's compare what things looked like in 2025.

Luis Hernandez - in 559 chances, he had 6 errors(2 catcher's interference) and 8 passed balls. In 33 stolen-base attempts, he threw out 5.

Cade Arrambide - In 202 chances, he had 1 error and 2 passed balls. In 8 stolen base attempts, he threw out 3.

You can decide what this data means and what it misses but there it is.

Actually kinda surprising to see some of these. I think the main thing is the pitchers absolutely did not help catching this year. Some of the ball positions were just nowhere near their locations.

I will say it sticks out more with guys like Bide's glove because it feels like he does this quite often where he will drop a strike 3 right down the piper and it's so frustrating lol. I can remember one earlier where he made an amazing foul catch out then next pitch he drops a fastball right down the middle.

It’s asinine that Arrambide was ignored for all sec honors while Brady Neal was picked over him for until/dh

This is kinda crazy to look back on. This was the exit velo leaders from the spring.

What’s bad is all the runners that advanced because neither catcher could block a ball properly. They had so many that could have been blocked in front of them but ended up in the backstop. That’s what doesn’t show up in catcher stats. Just shows up as a wild pitch to pitcher.

Maybe it should have told us something about our pitching
