Yap, catcher defense & infield defense cost this team so many games. People focus on pitching and how fat Yorke was but the defense was by far the biggest bugaboo on this team.

Arrambide is more than capable as a hitter. He’s not comfortable behind the plate. He needs a defensive position he can play at an SEC level because catching is not it. Either that or accept the DH role.

Agree both our catchers are pretty messy at receiving but big can hit. Arrambide really turned it around after the 4 homer game.

Cade Arrambide - In 202 chances, he had 1 error and 2 passed balls. In 8 stolen base attempts, he threw out 3.

This was from 2025? Going off memory, but wasn't there a midweek game last year where Cade had a nightmarish game? Only 2 PBs?

Yep, from the LSU website. I will say this, though, it has been said that the scoring at Alex Box is sometimes skewed in favor of the catcher vs the pitcher on PBs vs WPs.

I don't know if that's true, but I have heard that. And the general rule of thumb on scoring a WP vs a PB does seem to favor any ball in the dirt as a WP, even when the catcher should be able to block it.

This sounds like the Seinfeld episode where Jerry is debating the Mets season with a naked guy on the subway

Catching guys that lead the sec in wild pitches by 30 doesn't help things. The catchers needed to play better but catching this staff presented all kind of challenges.
