You talked to Gilbert directly? What else did he have to say?
Because he was recruited and is being used as a tight end and is being targeted a lot considering the other weapons on this team and freshman QB’s throwing the ball.

The last thing I read said she offered to stay for a few weeks, not she IS staying for a few weeks. It's being left up to Arik.

Not really. Think about it. There is no social outlet due to Covid. He is isolated from developing relationships outside of the football team. Nothing is normal about 2020. For an 18 year old to experience this far from home must be difficult.
It doesn't help when your the season is a disaster.

I'm sorry you can't see obvious things staring you in the face.

freshman home sickness is thing for all generations
remember the football team has been campus a long time....
and with nothing to do..other than football...and online classes?
I understand it, but he shouldn't quit the team..

Dude wants to play WR and O wants him at tightend. There lies the issue...

LOL.. the dude's not homesick. Same scenario as Marcel Brooks, they have to play certain cards to obtain immediate eligibility through a transfer waiver.
There may not be a need for it this year as it is anticipated the "sit one" rule will be eliminated in January (as it has already been done for the other sports). We are probably about to enter free agency for the first time in college football. And make no mistake, the coaches are gearing up for it. I doubt (purportedly) two Georgia kids just all of a sudden became homesick without so people in their ear saying they might be a bit less "homesick" at a new school next year.
Look, even if you are not a football player college has probably sucked for most students. For many of us college was one of the greatest times of our lives. Now consider what it would have been like if we had to do it under this ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS restrictions. I really feel bad for these kids because us adults know you don't get those days back once they are gone. And to have them essentially stolen from you because of this ongoing stupidity is awful.
Now juxtapose that with a player that could have gone to any school in the country being 500 miles from home...on a team that is struggling...and not being able to experience any of the fun that comes with leaving home for college. I'm not saying it is right to quit on your teammates. But I can understand him not being happy.

Can’t handle being a college freshman with all the pussy and attention one man can handle. We are fricked if this generation has to fight a world war.

In covid? You think those guys are able to party right now like normal freshmen?

Let’s send mom some flowers or something. She’s the real Tiger.

When my Dad was at Parris Island, my Mom called him, and they overheard some of the conversation. The DIs were ruthless! LOL. They made him shave with a bucket over his head while singing the Corp's song and all kinds of crazy PT. Back then, the Marines had a football team, and he played DT for the Quantico Marines. The pics of him before and after are unbelievable.
LSU football isn't the Marines. But in a sense he needs to man up, which I'm sure he will. But NEVER quit. And NEVER let your fellow team mates down. It's not just the "Tigers". It's the "Fight'n Tigers". Right now we're missing the FIGHT.
