But not a head coach... Maybe, an elite DC.

How many times in the history of college football has a coordinator left to be a head coach, then come back a few years later after failing? Aranda is not coming back. It's not happening.

Jim Leonhard is a fricking analyst right now I’m calling him yesterday.

He's a bad head coach because he cant recruit.

We need a STUD recruiter at DC.

He was interim head coach as Wisconsin. They usually aren't retained by the new head coach. If he's still an analyst in the spring, then you can talk.

Also, his name in Jim Leonhard, not Leonard.

He’s not an elite DC, either. Good. Not great.

And when interims are retained usually they didn’t get their guy. Wisconsin got Luke.

We’d get the players. There are two kinds of “great recruiters”. The first is the salesman. That’s Coach O. We don’t really have that…and it’s fine. The second is the guy that can sell a vision to kids that they’ll be developed. I think that’s Kelly.

Kelly is better than people give him credit for. He gets lineman and tight ends not because he’s a salesman…but because they know they’ll be developed. If we had Aranda (or any great mind on D), I think Kelly could sell the D like he sells the O.

Ok. Also not a recruiter. Our DC has to be dynamic to offset some of Kelly and Denbrocks shortcomings. Need to look for the next Freeman.

I learned that being a head coach for 12 years may dampen your ability as a defensive coordinator.

But I think Aranda wouldn't be an option anyway.

Maybe he does and if so, you’re correct. My thoughts are he’s too cerebral and low energy for these young high school ballers. They need to see confidence and swag. They need to see that everyone at LSU wakes up and pisses excellence each and every day. Kelly might be that guy, and for our sake I hope so. But he just blabbers and I know I turn him off and/or tune him out after a sentence or two. He doesn’t hold my attention very long, and young people’s attention spans are limited to about 10 second tik tocs. You need a recruiter who understands young people and can sell the NFL and a National Championship to them. That gets them to LSU. That’s what we need.

I’m just going to say it…. We worshipped the ground he walked on here, but his defenses got steadily worse each year. And he does not recruit.

Better than house? Sure, but that’s really not a high bar. We can do better.

The sequels are never as good as the originals. I doubt House gets canned anyway.
