How many times in the history of college football has a coordinator left to be a head coach, then come back a few years later after failing?

Will Muschamp. That said, I also don't think Aranda is coming back

Wisconsin got their guy. No need to evaluate the interim.

I’m just going to say it…. We worshipped the ground he walked on here, but his defenses got steadily worse each year.

Many point to his “National Championship” defense in 2019 as the crown jewel of his resume. The truth is, without the 2019 offense (or maybe the 2023 offense) that defense is losing us several games. They were good enough, but they were not good.

I think there are many better options than Aranda once House is let go.

While that is a general truism, now and again you get The Godfather II.

But I never go in expecting that.

I am not sure what to think at this point. I also don't think Aranda gets fired this year and if he does I would expect him to hold off on taking a DC job at least for a few months but probably a year or so. And I think it is most unlikely that all of the things that need to happen, both House and Aranda being fired and Aranda wanting to immediately take a DC job, will happen.

I remember when so many wanted Aranda as head coach here

he's not the recruiter you need to be at this level

He's a bad head coach because he cant recruit.

People act like recruiting in college football is super difficult these days. Anyone can get a job driving a Brinks truck, and today all it takes to recruit is a lot of money.

Gone are the days of game day atmosphere, flashy campus visits, or heartfelt discussions with players moms being the chief drivers for recruitment. Can you set him up if he blows out his knee and can't play another down? Because the fact is these kids usually don't have other prospects to fall back on and their entire life training has been playing football.

Now get the kid his money and don't pay him from your personal checking account please.

I will always remember Aranda as the DC that confused QB Lawrence of Clemson in the National Championship game. He was one of the elite DC that year. No one stopped Lawrence and Clemson that year except LSU. Burrow was confused for the 1st half but solved Clemson's Defense in the 2nd half. Lawrence was confused all game.

Isn't he under contract until 2029? He could hang out and make millions for years if they fire him.

I don’t think Baylor was a good job for him to take for his first job.

He was interim head coach as Wisconsin. They usually aren't retained by the new head coach. If he's still an analyst in the spring, then you can talk.
Look at Wisconsin numbers when they played teams with an actual offensive pulse like Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame, & Michigan. DC in the big 10 west are going to have great stats because the offense is absolutely garbage for every team in that division.
