The oil field baws in here can barely read a sentence much less a New York Times article.

You may want to post come cliffs.

Really ? Base running, plate discipline and throwing strikes aren't exactly quantum physics.

LSU does use Track Man and they use that pitching technology too.

They track spin rates for pitchers and exit velocities during practices and scrimmages.

When you get between the white lines you can throw it all out the window.
LSU's approach at the plate needs to get better, plain and simple. Watch the way Michigan is working counts and getting to that one pitch to hit.
Watch them focus more on pitch placement than pitching to contact. Had LSU pitched better they win the FSU series.

We have a lot of the tech mentioned in the article.

We have a gap in understanding. Either the info generated by the tech is not being communicated effectively or it's not being communicated at all.

My mental picture is two cavemen beating on the computer trying to understand what it does.

This is true. Having the tech is one thing but you need people who understand it and can interpret it and set up systems that are repeatable. Trackman is nice, but it simply table stakes at this point.

If you have coaches that are not knowledgeable or flat out reaistant to it, you won't compete.

Show me somewhere where lsu is using edgetronic cameras and I would love to see their pitching lab.

I agree with what you say about Michigan's approach, and while Michigan played and pitched very well last night, Vandy's approach changed at the plate after the first 2 innings and was more aggressive against a pitcher who was throwing all strikes for the first 2 innings. Vandy started swinging at meatball strikes early in count and started getting hits and putting more pressure on Michigan. It forced the Michigan pitcher to adjust and start placing his pitches outside the zone to test how far he could stretch the Vandy swing zone and the umps strike zone which added to the pitch count and drew a few walks (Michigan's pitcher and pitch selection was mostly very good). It was very strategic between the michigan pitching and defensive approach and the Vandy hitting and offensive approach. Michigan made some good adjustments defensively and off the mound to keep Vandy's threats mostly in check and keep the Vandy offense off balance forcing them to be more risky. It's no mystery why these two teams are in the finals- Strategy and player execution is at a high level.

I can't recall a game where LSU demonstrated adjustments at the plate or off the mound, and executed them well. They just seem to say, "This is what we're good at, and we're going to keep doing it no matter what direction the game is going."

Vanderbilt, meanwhile, is already looking at the next step — virtual reality scouting. In a hotel meeting room last week, Barak said, Commodore batters viewed enhanced video of the next day’s pitcher through an interactive simulator developed by WIN Reality, a tech company founded by Dan O’Dowd, the former Colorado Rockies general manager, and his son Chris. It replicates the pitcher’s delivery, pitch velocity and movement as if facing him live. The Mets bought the same technology a few months ago.

WIN Reality

I am guessing that costs a shite ton of money

Other teams are using advanced technology comparable to MLB. LSU just found out there are people that can pitch with their left hand.

Cliffs
- Uses Vandy's Rocker's gem vs Duke in the SR as an example of how technology helped him quickly master a 3rd pitch (doesn't say how it helped him; only that it did).

-"Technology is not the only reason Vanderbilt succeeds. Talent helps."

- Notes uses of TrackMan, Rapsodo, and Edgertronic cameras. Not cheap stuff. Cost prohibitive for some schools.

- "There’s definitely something to that,” Fetter (Michigan pitching coach) said. “But for us, it’s not the be-all and end-all. Technology will never measure what’s in a guy’s chest or what’s in between his ears. But at the same time, it’s an added piece that can tip the scales in our favor.”

Technology introduces some new wrinkles into player performance.

But the article falls way short of demonstrating its value. It doesn't show any before-after metrics or any comparative metrics, i.e., teams that use it vs those who don't.

I mean this is way easier said than done obviously. Most pitchers are trying to make good pitches not throw it right down the kisser
