Let's be honest, they were one and done after UCLA.

Jones has done a decent job this year. Peetz, if he was being honest with himself, probably shouldn’t have taken a job he wasn’t ready for. I feel more badly for Jones of the two.

Self awareness isn't a trait many people have in todays culture. Highly driven motivated people always think they will succeed. Even if they're not qualified for the job/position.

Feel bad that they got a chance to call plays for the first time at LSU? Nah not really

I think Peetz is a couple of years away from being a pretty good OC.

His mistake was coming to an Ed O team in SEC.

Give him a couple of years under a real HC and he’ll be serviceable somewhere

Absolutely not. They understood when they accepted the job that they would have to perform in order to get stability. The reality is that they knew O wasn’t an X’s and O’s coach and that the team’s success depended on their being ready from the jump.

They weren’t and they rolled the dice. Adults have to make adult risk-based decisions.

Yes.
Did either of them really get a chance to develop? No.
Especially with Peetz, EO probably rammed the Brady offense bit down his throat to the point he couldn’t call his own game.

They're football coaches. They know what that career choice means. Football coaches move around. I bet the average tenure for an assistant is maybe a shade over two years.

I don't feel bad for Jones because he has put enough good work on tape to probably swing this into another good position elsewhere. He's actually done a good job improving the defense from what we saw last year.

I don't feel bad for Peetz because he walked into the merry-go-round of LSU offensive coordinator that had already spun around and spit out like four different guys under Orgeron so far. He knew what he was jumping into. He also has nobody to blame but himself if he doesn't swing this into another good job. I have a feeling that he will be back as an NFL position coach next year.

No we don't, was he running his plays or what he was told to run earlier in the week at game planning meetings.

It’s amazing to me that people can simultaneously think:
1. Orgeron doesn’t do anything except stand on the sidelines clapping, and
2. Orgeron is the one coming up with our offensive game plan.

Why? The Brady rec got Peetz a couple million dollars he would have never sniffed otherwise.

Have they been fired? They have time to prove themselves. The new HC may decide to keep them, if they meet his standard.
They chose the profession knowing the uncertainty it involves.
Well paid for their experience and education.

In the short term it sucks for them but they aren't faultless in this. If they were better coordinators, we wouldnt have 3 losses.

In the long term I think this will be good experience for both guys. if nothing else, they can learn from what they did wrong. The biggest thing I think they should take away from this is that its hard to learn on the job at such a high level. They should try being G5 coordinators first or maybe they would be better in the NFL when there is less burden to teach players the basics.

I wonder how Peetz would do taking a step back and working as a PGC. Let him focus on scheme and situational playcalling. Maybe not at LSU, but I feel like it would help him learn and advance in his playcalling.

They knew the risk. Let’s face it, that’s the reason they got hired. No top coordinator wanted to work with O and risk being out of work a year later.

Sort of. Coach O didn't understand hiring.
