It would be nonsensical to hope that our players don’t have that great of a season so that they won’t go to the NFL draft.

You want your players to play so well that it’s impossible for them to stay another year. Your team might just have a chance at a championship if your players maximize their potential.

It’s not really a double edged sword in today’s world.

If we have guys playing themselves into high picks that means we pitch that to recruits and portal kids.

Cam Coleman probably pissed that he took all that money to go to tejas and have a shite offense and shite qb.

Our top four WR by far are portal guys--five if you count Mothershed as a WR.

They took 9; so by default, the top WR's on team statistically are going to be from the portal.

If this were a normal year at WR, only Jackson Harris and Watkins would see the field.

If so, good for him and for the program.

A year ago - he’s almost unknown but after a year in the LSU/Kiffin machine - he’s a first round pick.

That’s a pretty good billboard for the program.

So did you think all 9 were going to be studs right away?

It’s not a normal year. We're replacing Kelly's and Hankton's and Sloan's misses. And they've been pretty good all around.

I guess there’s no such thing as a “normal year” then.

Every team has freshman receivers and inexperienced receivers who play.

Nope. I think most people assumed they'd play 4-6 regularly and the most were practice depth.

My post wasn't meant to be hateful or an indictment of the future. I just think you shouldnt assume it will always be turnkey.

Had you told anyone in August that Jayce Brown couldnt get on the field and Watkins and Wilson were t3rd in the SEC in drops, you probably would have been laughed at.

Your post literally said the hit rate is poor, which is blatantly false. Especially if you think most of them were just supposed to be practice depth.

I don't think he's an "extremely high draft pick".

But, he could go to the NFL and be drafted day 2 I think if he wanted.

Out of 9, they needed to find 4-5 solid regulars and they got about 2.5

It’s fine, esp when TreyDez is on the field too.

guys at this age can absolutely still improve in both of those categories.

most don’t hit their peaks until around year 3 in the NFL because they are still improving across the board.

As much of a bummer as it is because man I love the way he plays, I’m stoked for him if he’s projected to be first round and leaves early. I’d rather that.

Worrying about LSU having wide receivers let alone with Lane Kiffin is bonkers.

The top 3 WR have 37, 36, and 27 receptions. Green is 4th at 19, and he's missed 4 games. That doesn't even count Jones' 30 catches. That's plenty. There's not a team in the country that does 5 deep with real WR production. Again, the only one anyone expected to do more than he has is Brown.
