Milam usually always hustles.

I noticed it, and given the moment, I just assumed that he has some lower body injury he was playing through that we will never know about.

That would be a valid assessment, but he’s been doing it all year and it never gendered him defensively. I think he thought he hit a HR on the ball off the wall and then he just doesn’t run out plays that he thinks are outs.

End of the season… could be hurting / tired

But if he is healthy then yes there is no excuse.

For almost two full seasons Milam has played with a ton of heart and hustle, so I kinda want to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Sadly you see this a lot at MLB and it’s starting to see it on college

You'd expect him to be an all out effort guy. Loafs around a lot. Not good. Hopefully JJ addresses that for next season.

Didn’t he avoid dog pile, too?

the ball hung up in the air over 5 seconds

Usain Bolt would take 9 seconds to run 100 yards in a straight line. The fastest guys in the MLB take 11 seconds to make it to third on a triple. Jake Brown, even with a lead, would take over 10 seconds to go from first to home.

then the drop and pick it up cost another couple seconds

It did not. It fell at his feet, and the ball was in his hands in about 1 second, but let's say 2 seconds to grab it and throw it home, which is generous. A ball thrown 60 MPH (also generous) takes 1.7 seconds to travel 150'. Let's call that 2 seconds. So 5.5 seconds in the air, 2 seconds to recover the ball and throw, and 2 seconds of travel time... a decent throw would have had brown out by about 1 second. But let's keep bitching about a play that had no impact on the final game.

even announcer said same thing.

well. If the announcer said it... it has to be right. They were right about everything yesterday.

I think Milam had an undisclosed lower extremity injury. He wasn't moving as well the last few weeks of the season.
… YES… This… I agree I think he was battling a leg injury also..

Milam? What about Jones and Dickinson on Jones’ fly ball that got dropped. That could have been a run and a guy on second if they hadn’t loafed.

I noticed that too, first thought was he knew he was the smallest dude out there and didn’t want to get crushed but I think he’s hurt

Milam is one of my favorite players, but I definitely noticed this. I hope he doesn’t have an injury, but I also hope it wasn’t just a lack of hustle either. Not sure what to think.

Jake Brown could have scored from first base on that dropped fly ball

I’m so happy that this will be forgotten because it wasn’t pretty

I noticed it in the Arkansas game the other night. When Hernandez hit the
tying run he came into score. He looked more in pain then elated that the game was tied.

That does look like a slight limp. He’s definitely favoring a leg.

Spoken like someone who wasn’t standing out in that sun this weekend. I’m pretty used to 100°+ summer days but that was an arse beating.
