Our depth at defensive tackle was not good. We have addressed that area along with upgrade at the safety position. Our depth across the entire defense is great. We can substitute along the lines and keep players fresh. And have really good depth at the linebacker and backfield in case of injury.
I think our defense is going to surprise a lot of people. We finally have the attacking type players that are going to thrive with bakers philosophy. Should be really fun to watch.

Absolutely but I also understand that the national media is not going to go out on a limb for an unproven team. The preseason media is all about returning players. I am not surprised at their lack of faith in LSU but I am also just as surprised at their confidence in Alabama being they are in an QB change year with a 2nd season coach that did not wow the world.
If LSU wins out the gate we will be one of the early media favs but if we lose they will forget about us until end of season.

Is there a poll that doesn’t have LSU in the top 10? 4th in the SEC preseason is a top 10 level team

I think the one player that most people are sleeping on is Jacobian Guillory. I heard two more podcast and people mentioning all these players. One said something about Gabe Releford, Dominic McKinley, and Patrick Payton, and the other talked about Jack Pyburn and Gabe Releford But no one has spoken a word about Jacobian Guillory and I think he is going to be a big cog in the wheel for this defense. I think he’s going to have a huge year and help this defense to be one of the best in the country.

They have LSU as 4th with a really wide gap between 4th and 5th. I think LSU is 1st. So LSU is 2.5th. That definitely gets you a home bye 1st round of playoffs.

I’d rather be a sleeper team than have the media pile on expectations and pressure.
I feel like this entire season depends on our O line and Nuss. If the O line is improved and Nuss really has learned to use his legs, this could be a very special team. I have big expectations for our defense this year.

I think they look at BK and him underperforming expectations. The BK hype is over . LSU has never got the Notre D or The Ohio St or even the USC bonus points.

This. I think our offense may not be quite as good as everyone thinks but our defense is going to win some close games. I love the players we have on offense but that 2019 team has spoiled our expectations, no team will be able to live up to that, but that’s ok. As long as our defense shuts things down when we need to we’ll be a playoff contender. I love watching good defenses so I really hope we have one this year.

Yes. They aren't going to give us much until we win 10+ for a couple years or th Sec or nc.

I agree even tho I think this offense can be 2023 level of great if the o line holds up. Too much speed at WR and a dynamic freak at TE in treydez green along with one of our most talented backs in a long time in Durham . Baker is a heat seeker type DC he does not want to sit back and let an offense comfortably march up and down the field. He wants to send blitzes and play press Man coverage. That defense with the right personnel can be great. Last year, we were lacking the depth at DT, and the dudes in the backend to execute it consistently .
Now we have the depth at DT and some flat out dudes in the backend. Kelly himself said this is first year he believes he has a championship caliber defense and I gotta agree with him. Fired up to watch this defense fly around like classic LSU defenses truly think baker can get us back to that.
