K guys... reactivating this thread since it's a week away! WOOF!!!!
Question, how is the hurricane that just came through going to effect our trip? I hope the damage is minimal for all the people involved and everyone is safe.
Current plan is we are staying in NOLA and then we have a party bus leaving at 9AM sat and returning post game. Cheers friends, cannot wait to be greeted with southern hospitality again... respect.

should be fine man.... it rained a shite ton down here, but I think everything should be back to normal in NOLA and definitely in baton rouge by next week. The washington game will be my first game this season, can't go this weekend cause i have to catch up on all the damn work that couldn't get done this week. Have fun experiencing the best damn place to be on a saturday during college football season. It will be rocking i'm sure. There is nothing like it and you will enjoy yourself no doubt.

Thanks for your concern about those of us in the impacted area.
...I kid, but you'll wish the hurricane hit next week and this game got cancelled.

The hurricane should not really affect your trip at all. The damage was minimal to Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Areas around N.O. were badly flooded but these two cities came out just fine. By this time next week you will have a hard time finding any indication that a storm moved through. (At least for Baton Rouge).
Also very much looking forward to the game. I didn't have a chance to travel to the last meeting but I have heard nothing but great things about the UW fans. I think this will be a trip that you remember for a long time.

First, I read the first page of this thread and then this last one -- sorry if this is Germans (which is a Tigerdroppings thang, by the way"
You've been told about the Tigerbaiting -- my advice : smile, and say "Boy, _that_ smells good. What is it?".
You'll be welcomed and full in no time.

Dawgs
How long have UDub fans referred to their team as the Dawgs? Y'all must've copied that from UGA. It's cool but it doesn't really make sense for y'all, because that spelling implies that the word is pronounced with a southern drawl.

The single most important thing here is that you arrive to campus early. Make sure to walk the campus from the Parade Grounds to the Assembly Center/Stadium area. Wear your colors proud and have a smile and you will eat/drink free all day. I'd make sure to be in the INDIAN MOUNDS area about 3 hours before game time to see the team buses arrive and the band go down the hill and play for the crowd. DO NOT MISS THIS !
Arrive in the stadium EARLY (say 45 minutes or even an hour) to take in the awesome pregame, the videos, Louisiana Saturday night, Calling Baton Rouge, the Tiger Band etc...
It's beautifully choreographed, has been refined over the years, and builds to crescendo.
And tell Sarkisian to take it easy on our young secondary.

It has nothing to do with how it is pronounced (like Georgia, I presume) and more to do with adding a "W" in the term for "W"ashington.
LINK
Not sure how long it has been used. I remember a poster around the 1991 National Championship year with Coach Don James being called "the Dawgfather" sitting like he was "the Godfather."
Looking at the link, looks like the 1990 season... but no idea how long before that...

The dawg fans treated Us very well. Hope to repay them in a few weeks.

If you are a runner there is a Saints 5K that starts at 7:30 Saturday morning and finishes at the 50 yard line inside the dome. You may be able to finish the race, grab a beer, and still make the bus.

i also wish you a great time.
it never rains in tiger stadium, but, if it is forecast, just wear a plastic poncho.
i'm old, so i think i died and in heaven.
i don't tigerbait, but little kids will see your colors and start chanting. just smile and wave and ask for food. bring an appetite. the different choices are fantastic. i'd suggest going back to nola. lots of fun in the quarter.

Not all of them.
I live in the Seattle area and agree most are ok.
However, when I went to the UW vs LSU game a couple years ago I had several fans yell "Katrina" at me. Took me by surprise.

I can only speak for NOLA, but there were already bars and restaurants open yesterday in the Quarter, and other parts of downtown. I recommend while in NOLA going to Cochon(make reservations) for dinner. It is very good and reasonably priced for downtown. Also stay away from ALL Bourbon St. gimmick drinks. No hand grenades, jesters or the such. Enjoy your trip to LA
