19th round? He will be signing for peanuts. He needs to come back.

There are no more slot values. Just a max of 125k before you have to eat into your pool money.

Next year he will be a senior. He likely won't be a high draft pick so he will have to take what they give him. He actually has more bargaining power this year than next year.

The round itself beyond the 10th means nothing in terms of offer. Now it's about leverage, team money pool available, and if a team and player can agree on the value of the remaining eligibility that exists.

I can't get over this leverage crap. It means a lot in the first 5 rounds. Beyond that were negotiating Mickey Ds lunch money.

Slaughter was drafted in the 18th round.

I know he was. The guys comment didn't have Slaughter in it. I was responding to what he said

This is the way i see it

Hess was thinking he was getting 1mil plus (more coming into the year). Even if a team offers him a lot more than the $125k, it can’t come close to what he thought he was looking at

Watson - same thing but to a lesser degree. Thinking 5-600k. Teams still probably won’t have that kinda wiggle room.

Dup - don’t see him as a prospect. He probably knows as much. Sign for $125 now or 5k next year, set records, get a degree, finish up strong(ala Poche)

Slaughter - 2nd time cubs drafted him. Theo obviously likes him so maybe they throw 200 or so at him. Will it be enough? Idk

I think there’s a strong chance we get out of this only losing Bush, Sanders & the Turang kid. Fingers crossed

The wildcard that we can’t account for is the “he just wants to go” factor. No way to know what’s in these boys’ minds. And even if you did, things change daily. Nobody expected some of the things we’ve seen. Whatever they do, I wish them good luck. Also think that at this point, we gonna be stacked as frick next year (especially if Smith and Walker return to form)

Levi Kelly & Feduccia as well.

If I had to take a guess...we'll lose at least 1 of Cabell, Slaughter & Duplantis. I'd be elated if we kept all 3.

Definitely agree on Watson & Hess. They're both locks to come back at this point imo.

How much eligibility does Feduccia have? Idk bout him

Kelly was projected in the 7th-ish. No clue about his “wants”. But 7th rd and where he was drafted is only about 100k or so difference. So maybe so

Feduccia would be a Senior in 2019. He knows that we have 3 new catchers coming in. Personally, I think he's gone.

A lot of it gonna depend on where they rank on the team that drafted them’s priority list of “extra pool money”. And how they drafted in the 1-10rds. If they took 3-4 seniors, then they may have some extra $ to entice. If their higher priorities demand more, they may not have anything left

Gotcha. Well let’s say this... we aren’t gonna lose anybody that will hurt much except possibly Duplantis. Everybody else we’re talking about is replaceable or already has been

Duplantis and Mangum return.

SEC schedules LSU and State in a season ending series.

They exchange rocking chairs before the final game at a renovated Dudy Noble.

Both end their careers 1/2 in the SEC in career hits.

That’s the only way this should end.

Duplantis ends up being LSU alltime hits leader
Mangum ends up being LSU alltime hits given up to leader

People still overstate the importance of this. If you're selected in the first 10 rounds, yes, it is a consideration. You also have to look at the money the team has to work with and who else they picked ahead of you. Cleveland had 12 picks in the first 2 days, including Stevan Kwan from OSU who has a similar skill set.

If Antoine goes, it will be because he is ready to go and won't have a thing to do with leverage. The smart move is to stay, enjoy his senior year, and try to elevate his stock for next year. His risk of getting less next year is about nil.

Exactly. Except the risk of getting less. He’ll get $125 this year. 10 or less next year. Not peanuts but not life changing either
